Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah its a water sport :dunno:, i hate politics as well

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not sure what local store you go to but I usually get my stuff from Mark up at Woodward Spring in Brockton.

Damn man, that sucks. If you are not swapping the tranny and want to go hang out, lmk. I can swing by and give ya a ride (if I end up going either). If you are swapping a tranny and need a hand, lmk, I can swing by.

So yeah, I was right, I need 2 13/16" ubolts. not 3". Damn, well at least I know what I need now, Just no one carries a 1/2"x2 13/16"x8" ubolt. Off to call the spring shop. Preparing to be paying far too much

Edit: SON-OF-A... spring shop must be closed today :( Looks like I get to put off the axle for another week. Oh well, more body work it is.

Not gonna be doing it till Wednesday or so at the earliest, unless someone on here has an aw4 in good shape they want to offload for (likely) whatever price is named. I have a 21sp one on hand but it needs a pump seal and I don't want to change my transfer case out as well right now, mine works fine. JY wants $120 plus $100 pull fee because I don't have the time AT ALL to spend hours in the yard pulling one right now. So it looks like I'm working from home and/or limping to work at 45-55 till the remainder of my clutch material is in the pan. I'll let you know but it looks like it's going to be a "lie on your back in a snow/water mess on my driveway" sort of job.

oh geez,

president obama is going to be at my school tomorrow for a campaign event for Martha Coakley for senate. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
:puke:

Worcester is FULL of people waving signs for Brown, I haven't seen a single Coakley sign yet. Based on the fact that I really, really do not want to see this ridiculous healthcare boondoggle passed I am pretty sure I am going to vote for him even though it'll make me feel like the biggest hypocrite on the planet, being a registered libertarian and all. I thought Kennedy had a chance but it looks like he's pulling sub-10% polling numbers.

That's the one

And Ken, LMK whatever you end up doing. If you don't get it done until next weekend you could probably try to gimp down here if you want and use the garage. I don't think there will be much objection from the parents.

Anyway, back to the garage and trying to cure my driver's door sag.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it's true, and you can skip picking up all the random nuts and bolts and bits of wire, just suck it up and you're done

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I really thing the president of the country shouldn't be allowed to support and campaign for a states senator/rep. That should be the states decision and the president should stay the f*** out of it. The way I see it: The senators are represented on the world level by the president, so it's oK for them to campaign for who they think will do best to represent our country. The states are represented at national level by who we elect for senator/rep, so we can choose/campaign for who we think is best. The president is not represented by the senators of any individual state so he should have no say/influence on who gets elected at state level.

And I love how my town has signs up everywhere supporting Scott Brown.

X2 on all of that

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of getting ready tomorrow... I need to(list more for me than anyone else :laugh3:)

-swap in my "new" rear driveshaft from AnthonyDONE
-go through my crap and replenish spare fluids etcDONE
-check steering, tighten bolts etcDONE
-grease everything(TREs CTMs shackles Clayton blah blah)DONE
-break out my new ratchet straps and get everything in the Jeep tied down again
-buy a big gas can and fill 'er up because I have no idea how much gas is in the Jeep (I really gotta fix that damn gauge :twak:)DONE
-reattach passenger side bushwacker flare and try to fix the PS front turn signal/marker lights, seeing as I'll be driving 2 hours through MA each way :( DONE
-don't spend unnecessary money in anticipation of "traffic violations" from staties who don't think the Jeep is cool
-reattach windshield rearview mirrorDONE

Now onto the ratchet strap fun :sunshine:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nice work on the list. I *think* I may have cured some/most of the drivers side door sag... I hope Gotta rehang/adjust the door and see how it does.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just gotta gas up mine and ill be set, i even washed all the f'ing salt off it today

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my jeep is all set, i just put in a full tank of gas and tossed a few tools inside. worrrd

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, so I won't be there tomorrow

So I did somewhat cure my door sag. Not nearly as bad as it was. but now something isn't lining up just right so I can't take the door off anymore. I will have to figure that out and get it taken care of by the time the summer rolls around.

And finishing the door made me decide kicking the rocker with my steel toe boots was a good idea; and as expected, my foot went right through in most areas. So I cut out most all of my drivers side rocker and removed the foam filler I used to "patch" it last time.

Found another mouse house in my rocker :D I have destroyed so many mouse homes so far this year, I wonder how many more I will find while working.

Oh, and the Jeep has started its transition from red to semi-gloss black. Just a few spots on/around the drivers side door, but still... no turning back now! I bet it is going to look real good... from a distance. but as soon as you get up close to it the paint job is gonna look like ass

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Now onto the ratchet strap fun :sunshine:

i jsut scored a set of 4 big ratchet straps and axle straps today that are now solely towing tie-downs. also grabbed another tow strap for the jeep. i now have one WITHOUT metal hooks

you have a 2 door iirc? Those suckers are heavy. Just got mine done about a month back after the top hinge broke completely free.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Edit: Double Post.
But in other news my rear bumper is finally finished.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cant wait to f'ing wheel tomorow its been almost 2 months

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken, steve called me saying you were going to try to grab that engine hoist tonight? Are you still coming to Boston for it?

Yeah I do. Thankfully I have no power options though, so that saves a bunch of weight.

My hinge itself appears to have been welded back on at some point, but that wasn't my sag issue. the lower hingepin had broken right in the middle somehow so it still worked OK but was just very loose. That happened before I bought it... the PO just ignored the problem and it kinda hollowed out the Jeep body side part of the hinge (and also did the same to the top because it moved around so much). so even a new pins were loose.

So today I made a new pin with some 1/4" rod. I then made some small tabs that I drilled 1/4" holes in (made out of 3/16" or so steel I have laying around). I welded those tabs to the top and bottom of each hinge so the hinge pin is nice and tight. That and the welds holding the outer shell of the door on had also broken, which allowed the whole door to flex and sag a bit. Re-welded those and that made a huge difference.

I will perfect it later, but for now I have other priorities. Rockers, rear quarters, remainder of floors, axle, some interior stuff back in (i.e. seatbelt for passenger), SYE, shackle relocation brackets, spacers up front... damn, that list is getting pretty long...
