THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

will do, probably early Saturday though. Likely Everett's if you want to hitch a ride, their prices are great compared to Sam's but their selection isn't as good.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes. Assuming it was still a good buy? Depending on what the expansions are they could be nice.

yeah, i think it was a good buy. I'm going to go through them all and when i get home carefully. I think one of the expansion reamers was a 7/16. We'll see. I'll take some pictures and post up too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes. What's the big deal? Its not like you don't know the date and can't plan for arrangements. I went the morning of my 21st. I can't believe you guys didn't know that, heck I'm pretty sure I must have been told about a 100 times to wait until the day of or after your birthday to get your license renewed otherwise I'd get the vertical.

Well, I was never told. And like I said, I had read on the website that it was recommended that you go before the day it expired, which made sense to me.

It isn't bad if you don't live in around a bunch of cities and you don't go at noon.

Ah, I live next to Lowell. The wait times listed online and when you get there are about 1/3 the time you'll actually wait. About 70% of the people there don't speak English and (ironically) about 50% of those people are out of work, as have been the past 3 generations of their family. hasta

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am tempted to get a ford D44 rather than the waggy, but the waggy seems like it would be easier and I want to get this done within 3 weeks so time is an enemy.

And IIRC to shorten a HP44 you can cut down the long side and use a waggy long side shaft... but don't waggys and fords have different lug patterns in most years? Oh well, guess I will research again tonight. I forget this stuff too easily.

you just use the waggy innner shaft and keep the f150 outer.

Oh yeah, that's what it was  See, my brain really isn't working today. I feel like ****. I just want to go home and I still have a presentation update to do today.

Maybe I will take that route. Will give me a good reason to buy a new saw and some experience with cutting down/re-welding axles before I go to town on my tons later on down the road if I ever get there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what the FU(K. so, I turned 21 on January 6th. That's dandy. Online on the RMV's site I read that it's recommended that you go to the RMV "at least" 7 days BEFORE your license expires to give them ample time to do everything. That's fine, makes sense I guess. So I went on December 30th, and renewed it. In the meantime I got a HORIZONTAL temporary license, and the lady at the RMV was helpful and (as always) glad to take my money...without any warning of this -->> I just got the new license in the mail today... and it's a "Under 21", vertical license. All the info is correct on it however. How in the hell!!?? So, I called and waited on hold for almost 30 minutes to finally explain this to some dumb bitch who told me "Oh, well when you're turning 21 you need to go to the RMV on your birthday. If you renew it beforehand you'll be given another Under 21 license. If you want to get your new license fixed you'll need to pay the $25 fee and wait another 5-7 business days for us to mail it to you." As if I was just somehow supposed to KNOW this, and as if they weren't able to figure out if I'm renewing my license within a week of it expiring and I'm turning 21, I NEED A 21 AND OVER CARD. Jesus Christmas. Also, the license expires on the birthday... They seriously expect every person who's turning 21 to go in on THAT day to renew it?

Long story short I paid the damn $25 but what the hell.

....Glad Dad stocked the fridge downstairs with beer. :D

You guys are all funny. I didn't have that problem as they didn't have those in my day. Hell we had fake ones made very easy back then, probably what ruined it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So finding XJ's is kinda hard now. If anyone finds a 91+ XJ with less than 140k in the $1500 range LMK. I don't care if it's 2.5, 4.0, AW4, AX-15, or even 2wd. I just want a clean stocker for a DD.

Disassemble your joints and find out what you need?
What you're asking is kinda like saying you have an oil leak and without opening the hood to see where it is coming from. Then you ask us if you should replace the valve cover gasket, rear main, or the entire engine. We don't know until you do a little looking first. :laugh3:

When I rebuilt my RE joints I just replaced the races. The rest of it was is great shape and with a little nickel polish was good to go.

I'll rebuild them, and uh, long-term test them for you...

I'm pretty sure I saw a few mid 90s repairables on craigslist in worcester/westernma for sub-1k. There is also a silver 97+ in the forsale/repairable lot at Everett's, I saw it when I went there on Saturday, I don't think it's one of the repairables unless all the damage was on the back. Not sure what they were asking though.

I've seen a couple recently. I'll take another look and let you know what I got. I might actually be getting a 98 in that range.
