THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that there sounds like the voice of experience.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that is bullushh

if you buy cheap autozone or advance fuel pumps you get pretty good at changing them. the first 4 are guaranteed to stop working within 50 miles and by the 5th you will drop a dripping fuel pump on thier counter, demand your money back, and get a nice pump at napa. by then you have had so much practice it takes you about 5-10 minutes to do a pre 97 xj fuel pump.
So... I take it you speak from experience? Want to do a pre-97 fuel pump :D

And I should have gone to bed early, but I got home at like 10:40 and then just wasn't tired anymore. When I left work at 4:45 I felt like I was going to fall asleep at the wheel. Didn't end up passing out till 1ish. Its been happening all week. Sigh, at least it's the weekend and I can sleep in a bit maybe. Will have to get as much work done on the Jeep tonight so I don't have to wake up too early tomorrow.

You know what's even better?

When the pump is totally fine but you have to trace all the wiring back to pump assembly. Then you find out that the little piece of metal that keeps the metal return/feed lines inside the tank together broke it's spot welds. Not a problem, except that the ground runs through it. Change out 3 pumps before figuring it out.

I still hate the stupid o-ring/lockring design.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob already helped you on this one but I'll chime in...

whats the width on a waggy 44?

EDIT: i think its 58.4 on the narrrow track.

61.5" I believe. I know it's slightly wider than a D30.

im looking into possible options for a dana 44, maybe travis can chime in. i know next to nothing about the 44's. If i were to get a d44 out of a ford f150, can i narrow the long side down to a waggy length shaft. if i do that will i be able to find axle shafts that will fit the f150 spline count? what im getting at is i want a 44 as close to a d30 width with axle shafts readily available . i dont want to be hunting down axle shafts.

You'll have to narrow down both sides on an F150 or F250 axle. You can just cut down the long side to waggy width but it centers the diff more and you won't be as narrow.

and the waggy inners is the same spline count as the f150 inners

yes, 30 spline.

You can go the easy route and get a waggy 44 and just add mounts/truss if you want and pretty much bolt it in (swap to 5x5.5 bolt pattern). Then you'll have to get new wheels and make the rear axle match. You could also grab both 44s and keep the 6x5.5 and get new wheels. Problem is, you have a low pinion which means crappy driveshaft angles/clearance.

HP is more effort, but worth it if you plan on running it for a while.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

true true, i'm not looking forward to the mess we left the shop in to tackle tomorrow. and i was slipping and sliding all over my hardwood floors since there is a shitload of oil like impregnated into my soles of my vans right now too.
Yeah, that would be pretty bad. BTW I think I have an entire gallon of degreaser concentrate sitting in my closet that I intended to use to clean the floors in my last college apartment and ended up not needing. I should be in Boston again for ANOTHER CHECKUP (:banghead:) sometime tomorrow, I'm thinking I will hit Everett's in the morning, then the hospital, then see if you guys are working on the XJ again and drop by and maybe even actually help this time.

<pic of Steve flipping you off>
:roflmao: that pretty much described the whole evening after it didn't start...

<pic of me wrestling with half an engine>
I am still a little sore from that... that sucker was heavy. We did win in the end, impact wrenches ftw. I need to remember to grab the piston with the rod that I twisted next time I'm there.

What time tomorrow are you thinking of being at Everett's? If I can get my fluids swapped tonight and complete a successful test drive I may be up for heading there myself. Make that a 2nd round test drive before heading out to the UJ party later in the day.

dunno, probably the standard "as soon as I wake up and get ready to roll". Figure around 9 or 10?

cmelo, you up for this too or in work?

All I'm really looking for is a V8 ZJ tie rod and/or drag link, maybe a stock headlight because my right one finally died (it's been running fine for over a year even though I mashed it into a guardrail and shattered the fiberglas header panel right behind it), and perhaps a few other things I've forgotten.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is it 1545 yet?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My boss and I have a running joke about "is it 6:15 yet?". Back story: the wall clock in our office area died showing that the time was 6:15 and was like that for a few weeks. Almost ever day one of us would walk back from a meeting or from the labs mid afternoon (maybe 3 or 4) and say "oh damn, 6:15, I gotta get home". Sometimes he would actually leave after saying that, which meant I would leave about 15 min after him :D

Now we have the running joke of "is it 6:15 yet?" and 6:15 seems to come at random times of day. Last week I asked my boss that at 10:30 AM or so and he said "I think it's just about that time"... he left just after lunch. He is 'working from home' today so I think 6:15 may come around 3 or 4.

Edit: Awesome. Lets see a WRX do that! :firedevil:
