THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my power steering hates the cold in black jeep, it whines and makes unhappy noises when i first start it and its cold.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i used to work at a pizza joint

well our cable was turned off a longass time ago because the owner didnt beleive in paying bills.

then one day some guy tried to break into the convenience store attatched to the pizza joint, and cut all the phone lines and cable lines hoping that it would kill the secutiry system or some shit.

well one day maybe a week after that we turned on the tv to play ps2 or something (my boss's idea) and bam we had tv
Awesome. My local pizza shop steals TV. my friends and I went in there one night and were hanging out with the owner after hours (we know him... dont ask how :D) We had him cooking a specialty pizza and we were all just sitting around drinking and he had the playboy channel or something on. It was funny as hell.

And I think its about finalized. I need an axle to hold me over until I get a full float C&C 14-bolt that will be cut and have the rig gear "machined". Shave off a couple inches. Yeah... that sounds good. So I think I will go cheap and machine the ring gear myself. I think hooking the rear end up under the Jeep with no tires sounds about right, then put the XJ in 3rd gear, let it spin up, and slowly grind away with an angle grinder :gee:

I do like the width of the C&C, glad that was pointed out to me. Thanks! That's just about the width I wanted. I could run 4.75" backspacing (unless that is too much for the hubs) and keep my rig just about the same width it is now. Just where I want it.

why?? With 38s + (what you need to run IMO to justify one tons) you'd be pretty tippy with a stock, or close to stock width. my front axle is 65" and the 9" beadlocks have around 4" backspacing and I like that with 36s. No way I'd be comfortable with 40s and a 62-64" axle. Maybe that's just me :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I should go a bit wider... but I wanted to keep it "street legal", so maybe some more fender work is required...

With 33x12.50s on 3.5" I feel it is more than solid enough. I figure I will be running 38s or 39s once I go to tons. When I say "keeping it close to the width it is now" I am running 3.75" backspacing, so its a bit less backspacing than most people are running from what I have read. I plan on going about an inch wider overall than it is now (or maybe 2" wider, inch per side wouldn't be that bad...)

Edit: So yeah, 4.75" backspaced wheels would give me 1" additional width overall, so I would probably end up running 4.25" or 4.5" backspacing. I still gotta figure it all out since I will need to buy new wheels anyway due to the change in lug pattern. I guess adding a bit of extra width would be a good thing since this will be primarily a trail rig. you may have just saved me a couple hundred $$ by making me reconsider my width so I don't end up buying wheels with backspacing that I end up not liking

Eh, with 39s you'll have a good time keeping it street legal. It's not really worth it IMHO. once you're that big, sure it's cool to drive it, but by that point it's just more practical to get a truck and trailer. If you want a truly nice and streetable XJ, keep it on 33s, maybe 35s. I only drive my Jeep when I go wheeling and/or when it's dumping snow and the civic can't get me where I need to go. Otherwise it's a magnet for our friends with the fancy lights :shiver: Sure my Jeep could use flares and a less beat up body, that'd help some, but the fact is it's big for an XJ so it gets attention on the road. with 39s I hope you're ready for some pretty high insurance rates!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I do plan on having a set of 34" to 36" AT's for street driving as well as the 39's or so for trail. My original plan was to be running 36s for street and trail, but I figure that if I want to build an axle for myself, I might as well do it right the first time. And if I can run bigger than 36s on the trail... why not? :)

I would really only be using the Jeep for the occasional drive around town maybe, down to the car show a mile down the road (there are a couple guys with XJ's that go and get some looks... lift blocks and all :banghead: I will have to bring mine once it's done and done right), and probably to and from wheeling trips. I can't really afford a truck/trailer right now, so that kinda cuts that out of the budget. :dunno: With the C&C being only 3" wider than stock I think I could get away with the 34s-36s for the street, I would just have different wheels with a bit less backspacing to pull them in a bit more than than my trail tires would.

Edit: At least that was my hope... you probably know better than I do and realize what I want to do is impractical and such.. but I feel like I am determined kinda, we will see. I will just throw money at it for a while if I have to.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and when you guys are building your one tons ill be out wheeling my dana44

amen brother

all you one ton guys are sooooo gay

So Billy, that 9" still for sale or is the other guy who PM'ed first still pending on it? Maybe I will continue being indecisive and pick it up. That plus a regear up front would probably be the best/strongest [relatively] inexpensive way to get a solid setup while I build. The more I think about it I will prolly wheel the 33's till they are beat, so the 9" would be more than enough.

i dont "hold" parts for the first person that called them. show up with cash and they are yours.

the 9" easily holds up to 35s and i would have no problem running the cromo shafts on 37s

i have found 2 bars that serve PBR in bottles and it is AWEsomE

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

where's that? Didn't Bub's serve PBR IIRC?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wake up early

Do stuff before work

8 hours of work

Kinda tired

Burrito

Bam! work on comanche!

I have no free time so I have to stay up late or/and wake up early to get anything done now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. yep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

used to have 37" bias ply tires

now have 35" radials

i have friends with 37's and 39's who need to trailer their rigs to local wheeling spots because its a chore to go faster than 45 mph

the only 37's i could stand were the creepy crawlers, all the other tires (i have run) you DO NOT WANT on a street driven vehicle.

im also not a fan of swapping tires. i like spontaneousily deciding to wheel. and less work.

and i need to build my shit fast because dana30's piss me off

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thats cool, you can give me those brown dog block brackets then:D

Oh I'm not talking about working on the Jeep, that would be awesome, I'm talking about every other vehicle I have that seems to want to give me trouble. I got so aggravated I went car shopping to relax.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I HATE VEHICLES! AND I ESPECIALLY HATE WORKING ON THEM IN THE COLD!
X2. I'm gonna be freezing my arse off while chopping my fenders today I think.

you can gear a d35 to 5.13, i see no need to upgrade further
:roflmao:

Speaking of the "two dana 35s = 70" joke, anyone consider running double axles in the rear? Maybe two 35s? I would be amused if someone did this just before sending it to the junker. Yes, I realize it would take a ridonkulous amount of driveline trickery...

meh, i guess 5.38s are deep enough  I could only find down to 5.13, then again I didn't look that hard (it was just bfore I was leaving work, so clearly my motivation was less on finding gears and more on packing my laptop up and getting the hell out of there)

hopefully nothing comes up tomorrow... hell yeah 4 day wkend.

Edit: All FF 14's the kinda diamond shape (with 10.5" ring gear) and the SFs the 9.5" ring gear with a more rounded housing, right?
If you want to go sillyhuge, rockwells/loader axles/other huge shit like that come with goofy big gear ratios from the factory, I think it was 2.5 ton rockwells I saw with 6.72s in them

Car crawling, or maybe mall crawling?
I did some car crawling with my silly little jeep, ran over a ford taurus at a frat car smash... sadly my nearly bald tires, lack of flex, and open/open got in the way of going any further than the hood.

Dr Pepper and SoCo???

I THINK SOO!!!!!!!
 most definitely. I'm planning on getting entirely wrecked tonight and doing things I will regret.

F*****CK.

I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and get a chemical flush and flush the Briarwood's coolant system. I just pulled out the thermostat and behind it there was deposits in the water jacket.
:( sucks. Hope it comes out OK.

ive found the end of naxja
same, usually around 4pm on a Thursday.

I dunno but I would not want to do that, I'd be worried about the burrs hanging into the gear teeth and chewing up the pinion.

Off to do more welding, pick up the new cross shaft retaining bolt for my 8.8, and weld more shit to the d30...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

where will this be happening? bars/party?
unsure, likely a friend's place on glendale, will let you know
