THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I used remote start only at my house or somewhere my XJ was close. I usually always parked with the heat on full blast when I knew I was going to be somewhere for a while.

On weekdays, I would shower in the morning when I woke up, then start it when i was in my room.

By the time I was done getting ready and got in it was TOASTY.

It's not necessary, but sure is DAMN nice. I'd love to get one in the CTD but whatever, not worth the hassle. The only reason my XJ had one was because it was there when I bought it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

bill, i didn't know your dad had one. but that explains why you want it. my uncle had a 67 that was burgundy and who knows what sorts of ungodly power it had. i know it ran a low 11 second quarter mile though. my grandmother used to get nervous when he'd be driving back from the track on slicks and it would start to rain. he got the rear 1/4 of the car taken off by a drunk driver as he was pulling into his driveway one night...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My dad must be pretty lucky to have his car after ~ 30 years.

Not to mention that most of his close friends still have theirs, or at least have an old mopar.

One of his close friends (the guy that poked fun at Mark the entire night of my grad party) has a '69 GTX 440-4 4-speed D60 that he's had forever too. And we own my dad's other friend's '70 Duster 340 4-speed that he had since high school.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my moms first car was a datsun

my dad owned a bunch of piles of shit, but some of the piles of shit had big engines

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hope that I never own a nice car. I'm fine with fast cars but not nice. I also never want my car to tell me when I need to change me oil or if my tires need air.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and some lady that comes into the shop every now and again used to rally race an mg and she talked about gymkhana and all that jazz

and now she needs help backing up her car.

but she is awesome

x2

that shit is a pain in the sack.

and if i had a nice car it would be ruined in a matter of hours

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My grandmother drove a Pacer. She loved that thing.

Also, my dad was going to sell his '70 hemi challenger at one point. My mom wouldn't let him. He's had it longer than he's been married to her. He also somehow got her to help pay for mods to it when they were dating.
Yeah, she said she loved it, it was like driving a fishbowl... you could see everything around you. She had to turn the AC off when going up hills on the highway though, otherwise she couldn't maintain cruising speed :roflmao:

Agreed. I can't stand being nagged about oil changes and stuff like that. At least it's usually pretty simple to clear or disable... or was in 2002.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There coming out with electronic parking brakes now too. Since when is it that hard to pull a lever up a few clicks? I'm sure it'll cost $500 when one of the motors brakes.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i turned all those dumb warnings in my vw off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My truck doesn't have any dumb warnings.

Though when I break the tires loose the ABS gets confused and that light comes on. I've just accepted it now.

What was his name, Chris?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, my altima has the tire pressure things. It doesn't bother me because I keep the tire pressure within spec most of the time anyway so I never see it.

It also tells me when I need an oil change, but that's only if I set it to do so. My mom's suburban will tell her when she needs it, mine just has a little trip computer for oil changes so I can set it to tell me when I reached however many miles I want. Then once I hit htat many miles it pops up to remind me. I actually don't mind it because it's a convenient reminder and I can turn it off whenever I want. I woudl hate one of those that actively monitor your oil and tell you when it thinks you need oil. I pretty much just have a digital "you last oil change was at XYZ miles" sticker

I just do my oil changes when mileage is divisible by 3000. I guess I wouldn't really mind a TPMS as long as I could set the pressure it expected, I'd really hate to have the darn thing nagging me to fill my 32s up to 35psi year round.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was thinking about doing a remote start as well, but more for the XJ then me. I'm usually running late or have no ambition to go out and pre-start the car so most mornings its hop in and go. The remote start would help save the motor.
Ya, its more for the engine that I wanted one. I went out to dinner with some friends last night, (I actually went out to dinner at one place with my friend, came back, and immediately went out to another place to with some different friends). When we got to the parking lot, we had to let the car idle for a while to somewhat warm up. Knowing me, I'm always late in the mornings, so I don't want to have to wait a ton of time sitting to let it warm up.

I have never tried to change the TPMS threshold value. For a passenger car like the altima, it's fine. I can keep my tires at the levels it wants and not have it bother me. For a Jeep or something that I may end up putting mods on, I would never want it unless I could actively control it.

And the oil change thing is just a convenience. I run mobile clean 5000 (for now, switching to synth after my next oil change cycle). I set it to tell me when I have hit 3500 miles, then I do an oil change within 2 weeks, usually at a bit less than 4000 miles. I do it the wkend after the light comes on, unless the weather is bad, then I put it off an extra week.

Anyway, its only nice because the notice pops up when I start the car (unless I turn it off). I hit one button and it's gone for the rest of the ride. Then to reset it, its a matter of hitting 2 buttons a few times. I just end up remembering to reset it while I am sitting at a traffic light somewhere and take care of it then.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hm, checked the classifieds and it was actually 15x10 soft 8s and a guy looking for 15x8 D windows or soft 8s. Guess I was wrong on those.
