THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha so were gonna stumble from crotched to the nearest NACers house and steal some floor? haha

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i take it the 8.8 you got has 4.10s in it. idk if i want to get one like that, and put 4.10s in the front, or go with higher gears with 33's.....
Yep. About ready to start welding stuff to it.

Paging Adam...
Is he looking for one too? Apparently some of them are from early 90s YJs (i.e. vac disconnect and associated nonsense), some are from late YJs. I've checked width measurements and YJ vs XJ seems to be either really close or the same. Only thing I'm worried about is chopping the leaf perches and putting on UCA/LCA/trackbar brackets + coil perches... I'm going to call back and see if he has any from TJs.

Oh forget it then. For the money+labor of brackets you could regear yours.

I've READ YJ housings are weaker, and TJs are LP30s.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm game for buying people drinks on their 21st :D

I still remember stories from mine.. it was almost the most boring 21st ever. Sat back and made drinks at my apt, went to the bar and shot pool having a very responsible night of drinking. Then my buddy came in and i saw him at hte bar, went to say hi (at 12:30 AM, technically the day after my b-day). He told me I wasnt' drunk enough and he and another guy wouldnt let me get out of the seat until last call and there was a shot in front of me at all times. I must have gone through 10-15 shots plus a couple beers EASY in 1.5 hours. I remember the whole night (somehow) until I stood up at last call....

Then I somehow made it back to my apt and my buddy tried to help me take my shoes off so no one would draw on me to which I yelled at him "NO, IM NOT GAY!!!" then turned to my friend Kristen (aka KVD) and yelled "KVD, TAKE OFF MY SHOES!!"

Supposedly it was pretty funny. lol. The next day I went to class at 10AM (this was the Friday before spring break) and my professor said "wasnt yesterday your birthday", when i said yes he told me that apparently I didnt drink enough... my buddy (one of the guys buying me drinks) assured him that I did drink quite enough and really shouldn't be conscious right now. My teacher knew that kid drank a ton... the look I got was priceless. :D

Edit: And that techno Jeep thing was epic.

Yeah. Kinda wishing I had thought that through when I was on the phone with him, went to the answering machine this time around. Apparently I can't think and talk at the same time :dunce:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As soon as I buy a house I am getting a tow rig. And a 2nd XJ... which is getting 33s... no lift. It's going to be my "beat the piss out of it on the trail while my other XJ is being worked on" rig.

I cant wait. Gotta be a 5 speed. Rev limited my good friend, how I have missed you :firedevil:

The only thing holding me back now is the whole house issue.

Edit: I have always wanted to do that "beating of an XJ" or whatever the video is called where some guys just jump and beat on an XJ for god knows how long. My buddy's father has a good chunk of land in VT now... hmmmm. Thinking of it, maybe I should plan a wheeling trip up there this spring or summer. I don't think his parents are moving up for at least another year or so. So they have a brand new house that they built, my buddy could prolly get the keys and myself/friends could go wheel/party for the wkend. even if his parents move up early, we could camp it. Gotta remember that for when my friend gets back from basic training, I think he will be on board with the idea pretty quick :D

Come on Ken, SummitRacing's site is stupid easy. :)

V-5, 16x8, 5on4.5", 4.5" backspacing:

Yeah, but that's 4.5", that's gonna be cutting it reallllly close on the leaf spring clearance. I don't want to do that :(

I know that the tires will move further from the inside edge of the rim because of the wider rims, but will that compensate for the increased backspacing? Really I want 3.5" backspacing, but I can't find ANY affordable rims in that range that fit the other requirements.

I thought all YJ's had the disco system?

If you're looking for loaded axles, I have a guy in Bridgewater that always has a big variety of axles and he's reasonable with his prices. PM me for details.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the jeep techno thing is badass and all, but none of our xj's are capable of that. we either have no doors, but if we do, they don't shut right.

The 16" size wheel isn't really cheap. If you were looking for cheap wheels 15" or 17" would have been the way to go.

3.5" backspacing is a lot. I'd stick with ~4-4.5" on stock width axles, IMO. Maybe some others will chime in with their opinions.

I'll look later for wheels, I'm trying to figure out what to do for socket organizers right now.
I'm torn between the Ernst ones and the plastic Lock-A-Sockets (can't afford the steel ones and the plastics can be had for ~$9ea).

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have 4" BS and wouldn't want any wider with a 12.5" wide tire.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Wide enough to save the fenders from tree damage (for the most part...LOL) yet narrow enough to still flex up under the flares.

Mine shut right, they just don't open right if I've locked them :roflmao:

car-part.com has 5 d30's with 4.10's for under $300 locally
They're all BS, I've called around and most of them are either completely utterly wrong because the junkyard doesn't know wtf they are looking for, or they're junk, or they want some ridiculous price I could buy a whole XJ for when I call up, or they never call back. I got tired of that mess unfortunately, it's a really neat idea.

Getting that feeling :( Ah well, it was cheap tires or cheap rims I guess, can't win all the time. I'd say get one or two of each type of socket organizer, beat em up for a few weeks/months, then see which does better.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like watching people weld things they shouldn't be welding.
