I want.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

OK, so I've gone over my numbers like 5 times now and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong (if anything.) Trying to figure out how much backspacing I need... my current rims are stock with 5.25" backspacing. Standard 8.25 rear axle, 60.75" WMS to WMS (apparently d35s were 61.25" though?) 11.5" wide tires, 7" wide rims. I have absolutely zero wiggle room before my springs hit my sidewalls, it's skating on the edge of safety. New axle will be 59.75" WMS to WMS so 1.5" narrower worst case. So I already need 4.5" BS max to avoid not being able to drive. New rims will be 7" wide also, new tires a little narrower but not noticeably... so I want 4" or less BS right? I've gone over this so many times I am almost sure I'm right but I really don't want to buy the stuff, have it show up, and then need spacers after all.

Sounds about right. 1" narrower axle, so 0.5" per side, so 4.75" backspacing to be where you are now. That means 4.5 to be safe, 4" just for the hell of it incase you want wider tires ever. I personally would go with 4", that's what my next wheels will be.

Unless you want to get a bit less backspacing for the rear two in order to balance out the width front to rear... but then you can't rotate tires front to rear, so I would say to get 4" or so, then you can pick up spacers if you want to balance front to rear width.

Get 8" wide wheels. If you get anything other than pizza cutters later one you'll hate yourself for getting the 7" wides.

Yeah, I considered that but I don't want to have different stuff front/rear aside from maybe spacers if absolutely needed.

Hmmmm, good point. I'll have to see if there is anything in my budget range (or if my budget range needs to expand) for 8" wide rims. I already swore I'd never go above a 32x11.5, but then treadwright had to go and make me break that one by not having anything in 32" :eyes:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just get cragars and faggedaboutit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh yeah, I completely ignored the 7" wide part. Go with 8" wide as has been said.

I have 10" wide with 12.50s and it works great for street tires... but I am thinking about picking up some 8" wide steelies next if I can find a good price on them and use those for the [eventual] 36"-37" MT's I will be picking up. That is unless someone tells me 10" wide is better for some reason and can back it up with facts:dunno: 8" wide with 12.50 +/- an inch on the width is what I am thinking.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh they're definitely going to be cragars based on price, I'm just trying to figure out which cheap ones to get :spin1:

Looks like it'll cost me a healthy bit more to get 16x8 than 16x7 :( I can't find a soft 8 with 4" BS and 5x4.5 in 16"x8".

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

a guy gave me an old old firetruck grill to try and rework for him. somebody had tried to weld up some of the cross bars, but after too many and nothing matchs. im almost scared to work on it, its really thin and old and tired. it might evaperate if i take the tig to it.

The cheapest 16x7 I'm seeing is the same price as the cheapest 16x8.
$59.95 each for the V-5s or $61.95 for the Soft 8s.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so whats a good model to get for a superwinch? The LP8500 good enough for our Jeeps or should I kick it up a notch to something bigger?

Huh, maybe I've missed it in the list - what's the cragar part number? I can't even find one that fits the specs - one of those cursed "right backspacing, right rim dimensions, right bolt pattern, choose two" situations.
