Took out the ears on the stub shaft, shafts rode up on each other, pushed the ball joints out.

Joint is still intact.

Ran to autozone to grab some ball joints, press, and swapped em out on the trail and threw in my spare shaft.

Drove home with no problems :D

looks like the releif cuts kinda worked

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Today is going to go by soo slow. I can't wait until tomorrow.
x2

On that note, what's tomorrow (or do you just have the day off?). Only reason I can't wait for tomorrow is because it is one day closer to the weekend  Hopefully by Wednesday I will be moving the Jeep back into the garage to get some work done, so I suppose that is the day I really can't wait for. And after this wkend it's just a 3 day week until a 4 day wkend for thanksgiving so that should be nice.

Anyway, back to making myself look useful around here.

Hey Keith I've been meaning to ask you...

mini=man

...I do not comprehend this equation. Would it be mini/man=1/2man?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, ya don't hear me complainin.

Any other ideas on how to keep them the weak link???

actually i think releif cuts in the outer shaft would be better. just take a cut off wheel and reduce the diameter in one spot by about 15%

should make for a nice clean snap with no ball joint or inner shaft or u joint carnage.

4 of my shafts broke like this without that releif cut, so ya

come to think of it

i have never broken a u joint in my 44 front, one inner shaft and about 8 outers

i think im gonna weld em all together tonight and make ART!

pulling an hp30 in the junkyard before work makes Monday so much more awesome.

It doesn't even have rust on it. Well, barely any anyways - still has factory paint on most of the tubing.

Time to order gears...

i had a parts truck like that

a 99 with 28k miles

EVERYTHING had stickers with bar codes on it, the only rust was where the sheet metal was bent from when some guy hit a jersey barrier at warp 9

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was unaware that XJ's could do Warp 9.

Actually it because when I made my user name I hit the "=" key by accident instead of the "-" key. My name on most other boards is "mini-man". And I'm too lazy to PM someone about the name change.

rustys sale price on dana30 lock right lockers is more expensive than most companies regular price

The only thing i've ever had new from them was my tail light boxes, and they blew dick to install. The bolt holes werent lined up right and the wholes were too small for any round light to fit in. All trailer lights require a 4.5 inch hole, rustys insisted they use lights that require a 4.25" hole. Talked to them on the phone twice and it sucked. But i hear that if you actually talk to Rusty himself on the phone he's pretty helpful
