I'm funny aren't I
Nope. I have exams that week and will be in the library.hey mark, so this means you'll be at the M&G on the 15th right?![]()
BTW Mark, the thing that bothered me about the brakes on that thing was that it SHOULD have had a vacuum assist booster in it (AFAIK). It's like it had manual brakes. Really hard pedal and didn't want to stop. Well, he did have the whole master cylinder replaced, they could have screwed up couldn't they have?
To me, it looks like it will need:
- oil filter adapter o-rings No problem, but it wasn't leaking too bad
- possible valve cover gasket. Wasn't it leaky around there? Service records said it was done in '05 so it's probably due. Either that or the bolts loosened up, I have to retorque mine every so often.
- at least front rotors/pads, inspect the rears Yep, on the to do list
- rear brake hard line (was getting crusty right around the bracket that it clips onto before it turns into the soft line) Ya the hardline on the axle looked like it needed it, but are you sure on the hard line running from the master to softline? I'm pretty sure that was replaced when he did the brake work
- sand down the bubbling and re-paint that I'll get around to that eventually
- possibly track bar. Something felt kind of loose in the front end. I have one sitting in a box at home
- spray down the underneath with some kind of undercoating before the cape destroys it. HELL YES
A bit pricey considering it's 18 years old, but definitely one of the cleanest XJs I've seen of that age, good score Mark. Eh it wasn't too bad on price, but as you said, for that condition with miles, I think it was worth it. Oh, and thank you, and thanks for coming last night too
i want a xj waggy quad light set up for the mj.
sick idea,right?
found some!!!If you do go that route, make sure you find/buy extras of the side markers since no one makes them anymore. They're a different size than the regular XJ marker lights and nearly impossible to find. I helped some local guy find a NOS pair that some dealership in Western, MA had on the shelf...but otherwise, you can't find them elsewhere really as they're discontinued.
I believe there is a grand wagoneer in Holland's, actually! I'm not sure it still has indicators or a header panel on it, but I know I saw something that looked like one. It's back where we were for the all you can carry, keep walking down the same few rows till you're right at a crossroad. I believe it was dark blue or purple but I don't remember fully.
... here goes my ignorance showing again... for some reason I thought the term "waggy" referred to a Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer.Grand Wagoneers are not XJ's.
my bro had a 91 grand waggy.its last year they made them except in 92 they pumped out a handful.(two documented supposedly)Grand Wagoneers are not XJ's.
Haha, I thought the same thing when I saw that. That's funny cuz those are Crown parts...and Jeffy said that they're tough to find...and he works at Crown...HA!

thats about what i was gonna say until my power went out.Haha, I thought the same thing when I saw that.
"Waggy" can refer to both a Grand Wagoneer or a Wagoneer. The context is important though to distinguish which is being referred to.
Grand Wagoneer = FSJ
Wagoneer = old FSJ, or, which is usually what is talked about around here, the trim level on an XJ.
"Waggy" header panel like Scully was talking about = XJ Wagoneer trim, quad headlight header panel. (There was a 2 headlight wagoneer initially, this is where the 21 slot grill comes from)
"Waggy" shafts or axles = FSJ Grand Wagoneer
