THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Would you buy a Civic if you could have an M5 for the same cost? I didn't think so.

Well I have 44's and a Civic. Where's your M5??? ... at least I'm consistent!! :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, and btw bill...your "same cost" "logic" is flawed, seeing as it's two totally different things. so you're saying a civic is equal to a 44, relative to a 60 being equal to an M5? you're saying a 60 would cost like 3 times as much as a 44?

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you people with your excel BS. just buy stuff and don't worry about the total cost. it is what it is...if you feel like doing a 44, do a 44....you can always do a 60 later. if you want to skip the step, then go straight to the 60. whatever. in my honest opinion i think it's a total toss-up. my best advice is to just flip a coin and go for it. seriously. don't over think it, because nothing jeep-related ever goes according to plan, at least in my experience. If you build a 44, you'll be happy with it with your current setup and maybe some more. If you build a 60 you'll want a bit more in the tire department, but you'll be prepared for it. It can go either way...Just flip the fawkin coin already and get to it!!
Not all of us have the luxury of being able to "just spend money without worrying about the total cost"
Planning is best. Why spend the money twice? You'll never get the initial investment back.

That analogy had nothing to do with you.... :D

Umm... what? I never compared those to each other at all...
Do the math, a built D44 is almost the same cost as a built D60.

I'm done with this debate, Adam has everyone's opinions now let him decide.

Bed time...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

lol I don't have the luxury of not worrying about cost, that's for sure. I just have a XXXX-it attitude. I don't waste my time worrying about stuff. What I meant was, either way he's gonna end up with something better than what he's got now, so it seems kind of pointless to be tearing his hair out over it. XXXX it, just build something and have fun :)

btw, if you require evidence of the existence of my XXXX-it nature, ask colin how I handled things at FC :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rockwells or gtfo :conceited

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

rocks are probly cheaper than 60's in the long run, all you need to do is put brackets on them, im pretty sure nobody on here will be breaking those shafts with an xj

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to kick you in the nuts for this. You call me and say you are definitely going to stay with the 44, then the next day you are on the forum saying you are going 60.

MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND ALREADY! :banghead:

:D

You love me.

Some say buzz-kill, some say tool...
:)

This tool has your rear brake setup :looser:

If I put 37's on mine, and let you drive it, with your jumping and your rev limiter, I wouldn't even blink an eye at my front axle.

You have lastara: u-joints. I would murder them.

And why when talking about shafts, does the u-joint ALWAYS have to be CTMs? You don't always need CTMs, you can be fine with other joints. CTMs are mad money.

You may not always need CTMs, but I personally know people who have blown up spicers (733x I believe, greasables) in D60s with bald 37" IROKs. So...seeing as how a 760x is smaller than an 806x, I don't see why you WOULDN'T need CTMs/Yukons or some kind of similar strength u-joint. Hell I was seizing up the 760xs on my D30 on 35s, so I don't even want to look at my shafts right now.

Regardless of the fact that he could probably do the D60 within $500 of the D44, it doesn't really matter if he doesn't need a D60.

He doesn't NEED a D44 either. He could regear his D30 and throw a full case locker in it and probably be fine.

This is all about the POTENTIAL build for his XJ. If he thinks he wants a certain tire size, I'd rather be bulletproof than have to baby it.

That's kind of like getting a 5 disc CD changer because its only $5 more than a single one, but you only own 1 CD.

Again. POTENTIAL. As Bill said, what happens if you want another CD?

I'm sure I could have spent around the same money on my D44, but I know for sure I feel and look pretty stupid driving around with a HP D60, XJ D44 rear, and 33" tires. I know for sure I won't need a D60.

By your logic you are stupid for spending money on a D44 because a D30 can handle 33s no problem.

Except for you Colin, take all the offense you want. :moon:

Love you too :kissyou:

Adam, I say you build a D44. I started an excel of my build that had costs and places I found good deals on things, if you want any help let me know.

I don't care what he builds I just don't want to see him regret it as I do with my D30.

x2 with what Bill said. I'd rather spend the money once. My D44 was a middle step. At my point in time, this D44 was built already. It was basically like doing an axle swap for me, minimal effort and cost.

Not all of us have the luxury of being able to "just spend money without worrying about the total cost"

Haha you definitely did beat on it. Though not a long run, I'd say you and your XJ did very well minus the whole trackbar issue.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why is there so much debate going on!? Did noone look at the picture I posted for you all!? It spells it out plain and simple.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam, I say you build a D44.

Dont listen to him Adam! This is the guy that would drive a Mini Cooper over a Jeep! Ahem, and now he's talking about how it's cool to build a 44 over a 60! It's all lies!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam...the key to it is just get wheeling again!! None of us will be mad at you if it's a 30, 44, or 60. We'll be glad to wheel with you though! Sooo. yeah. pick something and start buyin stuff :)

x2 I haven't seen the fiery Jeep wheel since you've got the 35s yet!

will you be mad at me if i show up on 37" stickies with a stock d30 and 410's and break shafts all day and have no tools to fix it.

i would be wheeling with you tho :wave1::roflmao:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wouldn't bother me. you'd be the one with the broken Jeep :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i would love to wheel with someone on 37s with a d30

I have. I had to stop them at an obstacle because I notice one of their rear shafts was walking out of their D35. 37's & 4.88s own Super 35's.

:D

You love me.
You know me so well...:)

This tool has your rear brake setup :looser:
I told you I'll be picking it up tonight

You have lastara: u-joints. I would murder them.
No would wouldn't. My joints are awesome.

You may not always need CTMs, but I personally know people who have blown up spicers (733x I believe, greasables) in D60s with bald 37" IROKs. Did they have the greasable u-joint orientated the correct way?

Again. POTENTIAL. As Bill said, what happens if you want another CD?
You don't have any money for another CD, you just spent it all on the 5 disc CD changer. Plus you only like a one hit wonder band who only has 1 CD.

By your logic you are stupid for spending money on a D44 because a D30 can handle 33s no problem.
I never said I wasn't. I told you, I justified building my 44 because I didn't want to spend the money on a D30 unit bearing.

Love you too :kissyou:
I knew you would understand what I meant :) :smootch:

x2 with what Bill said. I'd rather spend the money once. My D44 was a middle step. At my point in time, this D44 was built already. It was basically like doing an axle swap for me, minimal effort and cost.
So its basically have other people do the work for you. I know how you work, I'm on to you...

Come on Carmelo, I need a new quote to put in my signature. This one is close.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you DO realize that the d30 you're running has been run with 37s in the past, don't you??

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not just any 37 either...that axle has experienced creepies...
