THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wish i had the time to build 60's... i'd run 60's and 38" sx's and womp the poopers out of em. and airshocks, if i had my way.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i plan on 37 or 38" creepies or red label krawlers, and thats as big as i will ever go...ill save the 44s for a buggy

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

For anyone considering a 44 over a 60, here is the illustration I wipped up to depict a Dana 60's superiority over a 44-

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I am no longer gunna respond to any of the comments of a 60>44. carmelos drawing reinforces my opinions.

time to go do rear d-shaft u-joints on red jeep now!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i would love to run maxxis treps actually.. but they're wicked expensive and i'm not sponsored.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

crap now i hafta go find a mac-10 for my 60 to use, that adds about 3k to the cost

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yay i love moving, next week is so gonna suck

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

woo, i just got lightheaded looking at that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would pay money to have my hand look that cool.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill, i just finished the build sheet and I want your input on it. gimme your e-mail...and anybody else that wants it.

you've got my email, sign me up! I'm curious :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alright, so I just got back from the library, took about 4.5 hours to do 4 problems in one of my classes, still have to do the 5th.

And I don't feel like responding to most, so I'm just going to highlight a few things.

Welcome to my world. I went back and forth on a D44/D60 every other week. Just ask Bill and Mark :D.
I want to kick you in the nuts for this. You call me and say you are definitely going to stay with the 44, then the next day you are on the forum saying you are going 60.

MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND ALREADY! :banghead:

colin is such a buzz-kill
Some say buzz-kill, some say tool...
:)

So, again, marginal on 37s (D44) or bulletproof on 37s (D60)? Stock D44 shafts aren't going to last on 37s. You're now talking about CTMs/Yukon joints with chromolys.

If I put 37's on mine, and let you drive it, with your jumping and your rev limiter, I wouldn't even blink an eye at my front axle.

And why when talking about shafts, does the u-joint ALWAYS have to be CTMs? You don't always need CTMs, you can be fine with other joints. CTMs are mad money.

At this point I am putting down $5 that says you can do the swap for within $500 of the D44 swap. You have bolt in stuff you can sell like your 8.8, it is not like you have a D35 worth nothing.
Regardless of the fact that he could probably do the D60 within $500 of the D44, it doesn't really matter if he doesn't need a D60.

That's kind of like getting a 5 disc CD changer because its only $5 more than a single one, but you only own 1 CD.

I'm sure I could have spent around the same money on my D44, but I know for sure I feel and look pretty stupid driving around with a HP D60, XJ D44 rear, and 33" tires. I know for sure I won't need a D60.

Once again, I'm tired, been in the library staring at text books for almost 5 hours, and I still have work to do, so don't take offense to anything I've said.

Except for you Colin, take all the offense you want. :moon:

Adam, I say you build a D44. I started an excel of my build that had costs and places I found good deals on things, if you want any help let me know.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's 1:19am and I'm just now coming upstairs from the garage, I got a ton of work done tonight but I'm going to pay for the lack of sleep at work tomorrow morning.

Sure, he may not need it, but then again you don't need your D44 for 33s...
Your CD changer logic is flawed, what happens when he buys another CD later on? (new tires) He'll wish he spent the extra $5 to the better unit.
Do it once, do it right. Would you buy a Civic if you could have an M5 for the same cost? I didn't think so.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you people with your excel BS. just buy stuff and don't worry about the total cost. it is what it is...if you feel like doing a 44, do a 44....you can always do a 60 later. if you want to skip the step, then go straight to the 60. whatever. in my honest opinion i think it's a total toss-up. my best advice is to just flip a coin and go for it. seriously. don't over think it, because nothing jeep-related ever goes according to plan, at least in my experience. If you build a 44, you'll be happy with it with your current setup and maybe some more. If you build a 60 you'll want a bit more in the tire department, but you'll be prepared for it. It can go either way...Just flip the fawkin coin already and get to it!!
