Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well seeing has how the Juggy wasnt going to be ready for Fall Crawl I decided I'd make the MJ suitable to attend. Of course I didnt start doing anything on it until Sat. afternoon. Heres the list of stuff I've got done and still need done.

Done:
Ripped the entire interior out, including dash & heater box assembly. Wiring was a mess and the box was busted up(yeah I know I dont need it now but the dash was out and it was there).
Took the dash and heaterbox out of spare MJ to swap but found that box was busted too, so I took both apart and made 1 good one.
Dash and heater box in.
Replaced hood latches and cable(twice, first one snap first pull)
Ripped D30 down to housing and Bob put Tru Trac in, in about 30 mins but thats because the bearings were smashed. Also after driving out to get the locker yesterday and killing all that time I find Bob has a used one there.
D30 together. I need a Diff skid or cover for a D30, anybody got one?

Still need done:
Brackets made for front bumper
Figure out something for rear bumper
Finish grinding 8.8 and install perches and shock mounts
Install 8.8 & D30
Install Trac Bar
Install Front Suspension
Install Tank Skid & Tcase Skid
Install rear slider
Modify Exhaust
Install Rollbar and toolbox to hold and mount things too
And a bunch of other little things nothing much. I'm also waiting for parts to arrive tomorrow, hopefully.

Then I got to get the truck packed and ready to go. Ahh, nothing like waiting until the last minute to make you feel relaxed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will contact Mr. Travis and see what's up with the junkyards up there and perhaps take a field trip up there.

gimmie a call tomorrow, i'll meet you at holland's in billerica if you're willing to come to my place and help out for a bit with bumpstops and whatnot :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh and btw, I had a nice chat with Pelham NH PD this afternoon when Mia and I were on our way to Texas Roadhouse...

We were going up the road, he was cruising along the other direction when he noticed the rig and I saw his his bug out and he pulled a U-turn, at which point I told Mia, "sorry...we might have a delay for a little bit." :gee:

So, he pulls me over, walks up and says "I see you're missing a couple doors" which I return with "Beautiful afternoon today, huh sir?" and he ignored that, asked if the sticker was good. I said I had just had it put back on the road and had until Friday to have it done. He said "I think we both know how that will go for you" and I kind of side-stepped it with something like It isn't totally finished yet. He went over and looked at the sticker anyway and then came back around to my side to comment on the tires not having flares. I didn't really deny that one, just agreed and apologized. Then he was asking if the "frame" was modified when he noticed the front stiffeners, and I explained what they were. He mentioned something about "I don't know if this thing would pass for height even if everything else was good." I kind of made up a complicated thing explaining how MA inspections go with track width and bumper height and a few other things. He said that it sounded "reasonable enough...except you don't even have a bumper" LOL. I told him it was in shipment and arriving tomorrow, so he shook his head and dropped that. He asked if it was my regular driver, so I told him that it wasn't. He said "then why the hell are you driving this thing around??" and I explained how I just got it back together and needed to break in the gears before my wheeling trip this weekend. After that he got back to the doors with, "I know it's a Jeep thing...but this is, uh...different... kind of a, uh, concern...why aren't the doors on it??" I said "well sir you hit the nail on the head. It's a Jeep thing." He rolled his eyes, shook his head, and took my license/registration and ran them quick, then came back and said "I'm letting you go with, um...ALOT...of verbal warnings...and concerns... good luck." I said thanks enjoy the weather!

and that's my could-have-been-nailed-with-a-bunch-of-tickets-but-made-him-just-shake-his-head cop story of the day.

:D :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yep. so my percentage is I apparently get pulled over 1 out of every 6 cops I see. Because I saw 5 before this guy, and they all apparently either liked the thing, or didn't want to be bothered with writing everything up. :dunno:

:D either way, works for me!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ya, I just had to spend $900 on books for this semester.

FU Northeastern book store.

I spent $700 for your semester last year... I could have loaned you some for a low low price of $300 / semester! :D

I drove the Honcho around ALOT with no front bumper and never got a second look. Every now and then I would drive by an officer on a detail and they would give me a nod or they would see it and smile and say something to the guys standing around them. I'm amazed that not once have I been pulled over in it. I've driven everywhere to, even on some cramped streets of Boston and through tight ass towns like Canton and Sharon around here and never once had a problem.... knock on wood

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the only town around here that concerns me is mansfield. theres a cop or two there that have their hearts set out to ticket even slightly modified trucks. Most other towns are pretty chill about it and dont say anything. occasionally, there will be a statey thats not from around here and they might give you some trouble. for the most part, i usually never think twice about the cops when im in black jeep, only when im right near/next to a cruiser i try to take off kinda slow so it doesnt seem beastly loud.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've only had issues with cops when I was doing something "everyone" does - speeding tickets and the like. It seems the more flagrantly I break the law, the less likely I am to get a ticket... Guess I need to pull the bumpers and doors, chop my exhaust, add another 4" of lift, and get 35s.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have decided I am definitely doing one tons. Like Ross I'll keep my eye out for what i'm looking for and build them on the side while I beat on my current setup. I'm thinking i'm going to wait until I can find some decent CUCV axles. Right now I'm broke since I'm out of work but i'll be saving and keeping my eyes open for a pair. I figure 4.56s and the stock detroit out back. Then throw a lockright up front and run 37" Iroks and maybe H2 rims to make it a little narrower. In a couple years i'll shorten the whole truck, i'm thinking a 5 foot bed would be perfect and have a wheel base of 110". My mind is made up.

check on govliquidation.com (where I'm trying to buy this deuce and a half, lol) - they have a bunch of CUCVs up for sale at the same bases, none of em have bids yet that I could see. As a bonus you get the rest of the truck too!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

aaah ewww my leaves are completely toast! i measured 7" from the top of the axle tube to the frame rail, so basically i currently have 1" of lift in the rear, which is probably coming from the shackle anyways. eww. time to try to get the OME springs warrantied or something, those things were expensive mofos

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just called superlift about my cracked spring they told me it warrentable but i have go through 4wd hardware to get it returned but the warrenty womna there is out of the office today but it looks like i will be out of action for a while because i have to send them my old spring before they send me the new one but that wil give me time to cut my fenders up drop the tank check the fuel filter and pump and try and do teh 20 gal convertion and make my bumper more secure
