THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

great, so what should i do other than make my own 3 link with hard joints all around?

just wait and do it right the 1st time, have bill help you with a 3link
This. Or like I mentioned before, build your own short arms, then reuse the joints later for the 3 link. Add up the cost, a decent hard joint on each end plus a jam nut, if you use the right tube, you won't need any adapters. I'll bet if you shopped around and did it smart you could have a full set of uppers and heavy wall lowers for just under $300.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

or ya could use johnny joints of you dont want to run hard joints

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'll bet the walls on my current arms are still thick enough to bore out larger. they're solid stock... i think 1.5" dia and have 3/4" threads bored into them. i could just bore those out larger and run better joints.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

a 1" bore for the shank would leave me with 1/4" wall for the threads but the arms are still solid stock...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just a random fact but yesterday i saw Ken Blocks's rally car transporter on my way home from NY

True. I don't like the johnny joints non-adjustable snap ring design, but they work.

Some quick math for Anthony:
Adjustable hard flex joint w/ jam nut ~$47ea
Rod End w/ High Misalighment spacer or small flex joint and jam nut (uppers) ~$48ea
Adjustable poly bushing w/ jam nut ~$30ea
Non-adjustable welded poly bushing ~$18ea

So, if you wanted double adjustable lowers and single adjustable uppers you are looking at ~$250 + tube.
Single adjustable lowers and uppers would run ~$226 + tube.

Not bad in my book. I know this is how Angel's will get done once she lets me touch her XJ again.

interesting, im still not sure what im gonna run for my upper arm as far as the frame end goes, im thinking either JJ or Hiem, the lowers will keep the JJ at the frame end and im gonna ditch the rubber at the axle for poly

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

those bolt heads are 5/16 not 8mm. there is a .0625mm difference (.0025")... not a huge deal but i like to know i'm using the right size. FWIW the cross pin retaining bolt in the 8.25 is also a 5/16 head. ask me how i know.
yeah... I need to go tell the dude I misinformed now :gag: This would explain why I was rounding them off on the high torque ones. Tried a 5/16 socket again this morning and whaddya know, fit perfectly! I guess I didn't clean enough gunk off the first one I tried it on...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
