Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He said he would when he made it out there. I also gave him the u-joint to give to you, but it is unlikely that you will actually receive said part, since he has a D60 sitting in his yard.
He has it now and I got my u-joint. :)
We also went out for a few drinks, you missed out.
very serious, i got to 1 up you on your build
Sweet!
but you got coil overs out back, so i guess were even
Eh, we'll see who actually finishes first. I wouldn't really call mine anything better...

Who hear also thinks the Picture forum should be opened up to non-paying members?

I would much rather look at pictures than read something any day of the week, and ever since it became members only, its been pretty pathetic.

Sorry About The Story

What a great night. I get home from work ready to finish up on the F350 and go pick up the buggy, when my girlfriend gets back with my XJ from down the street and says its overheating. The last couple of days I noticed it running a little hot at idle, so I check everything, filled the res., looked for leaks and even gave it an oil change while I was at it. Nothing out of the ordinary. At the beginning of summer I had an issue with the thermostat that caused it to overheat and take out a heater hose and the radiator, so when I did those I also replaced the temp sensor and pump. So then it runs hot on me yesterday(I swapped out the rad. cap for the hell of it) and then on her today but as shes telling me its running hot and she can smell it out front, I'm thinking great what blew out now and expect to see coolant leaking in driveway when I get out from under the Ford but nothing. I go over to the XJ and I dont smell coolant I smell oil. I turn the key to On and the temp gauge is pegged. I open the hood and there is oil all over the valve cover coming out of the cap and a little hissing coming from the rad. cap. I look at the res. jug and it hasnt changed and I noticed that yesterday it looked odd for some reason. Then I realize it should have some serious pressure going in it. I pull the hose to it off the rad. and it shoots fluid out of the rad. I put the blow gun from my air line and at a 100 psi wont make it to the res. I dump it out and put the pressure right up to it and I force out a small plastic ball blocking the line. Of course I then try to start the XJ afterward and the XJ basically threw all its lights on shuddered violently and came to a halt not starting again. Steam poured out of the rad. and valve cover for a 1/2 hr. Oh and she parked it behind my truck in the driveway so I had no way of moving it. I got my neighbor to pull it across the street so I could get the truck out. So long story short I already had way too many projects and now I have another. Looks like I'm on vacation until Monday. Yeah me. Good thing I have another motor sitting in the basement waiting for something like this with only 60k on it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think i'm going to baystate offroad tomorrow to get my pitman arm reamed. Then I need to worry about getting my cab mount welded. Hopefully Ross will be around this weekend and can help me out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll try, I have work at 11 and I don't have the option of being late.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

bump i may stop by again with the jeep for some trimming / bumpstopping. and i think with a trip down then back i should hit the 500 mile mark so the gears will be kosher for wheeling this weekend

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh, and last night I pulled the 8.25 and threw the 44 under, then bent/flared the hard lines for it. threw on all the calipers and started to bleed the brakes but one of my flares was sub-par :( I'll give it another go this afternoon

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've been up, had to get up early to try and pull the steering box from the parts j20. It is now held on by one rounded bolt...errrr. So I have to go by a pitman arm puller after work and hopefully I can get that off my Honcho's steering box then drive up to middleboro get it reamed and be to quincy in time for work. Damn.

Holy sh1t good luck dude, pullling pitman arms blow unless you have a sweet flame wrench.

How rounded is the bolt?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

for the rounded bolt you can't just pound the next size smaller socket onto it?? for example, round off a 10mm, use a 3/8" instead...
