idk, that's what I did with my stock steering and it held up much better... Worth a shot anyway, before spending $$ on upgraded steering. Free is an appealing pricetag, no?

MANY MANY people get away with this for a loonnggg time. WHen welding the sleeve on, just be careful with the heat you throw at it on the ends near the TRE's, you'll make the factory tie rod metal brittle and it will snap right where the sleeve starts. Could sleeve it all the way up to the end of the tie rod, then use locknuts to tighten up the TRE in the tie rod. I forget what size the TRE's are, but its a fine thread SAE size if I remember correctly.

RHD draglink OTK with 5/16" wall DOM/hiem joint tie rod and you'd be in real good shape.

How much lift would the RE boomerang shackle give? I'm looking at the 6" one and either some regular coil spacers or acos'.

RHD draglink OTK with 5/16" wall DOM/hiem joint tie rod and you'd be in real good shape.

forget the rhd draglink, ill just go otk on the drivers side, 120 for a draglink is way more then i want to spend at this point

to much money, the tie rod that rob is gonna buld me is all i want to spend, i still need to leave a few bucks for tcase skid, want to get all this crap together for my next wheelin trip

Like Rob just mentioned, we've talked about doing a custom tie rod for him for now. The way I build it will allow him to do a matching custom drag link down the road should he feel like it, and not have to pay for it all at once. Thats the nice part about sticking with inverted Y, you can do it one piece at a time.

I'll be integrating one into the crossmember I made for him. .120" wall tube with 1/4" plate underside, coming off the crossmember and tied into the frame rail.

nifty I really oughta have something in the way of skids, but somehow I've managed to avoid hitting all major components thusfar, which IMO is pretty damn impressive :dunce:

Yeah, I hear you there. I did more damage to mine after getting skids then I did before. "Oh yeah, I've got skids now, I don't have to worry about it..." WHAM... :banghead:
