THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dropped my Honcho off at Lou's Custom today. I hope it comes out decent, this guy Paul is doing it for me and he's done work all the work for my maintenance man that I'm friends with so I trust him.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha yeahh. I don't really remember ever liking anything from Lou's... Did ya tell him to be sure to keep it tucked up nice n tight? Hope it turns out well for ya :)

The mufflers will hang down a little for clearance reasons with the driveshaft which will be bigger now. Other than that it should be tucked up just like it is stock. Also for those of you who may have ever even considered South Shore Bearing I would say stay away. They couldn't balance my shaft due to rust...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah, rust really affects things. you should probably have just told them to build something all new and custom and $700 for you...gotta have that shit balanced dude

:D

Hey Colin, What are you up to tonight? I need to use a vice to slap a couple U joints in my new rear drive shaft so my Honcho will be done for tomorrow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Depends on what time I get out of work. I have to finish putting together a presentation for my boss, so I'm not sure.

If I get out early enough then I have no problem doing u-joints. If not, I'm home tomorrow around 3:30 so we could pound em out then. Doesn't take that long.

You don't necessarily NEED a vice. I've pounded out u-joints at a junkyard using a spare tire. I'll give you a call when I leave work though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm sure you could add the ujoints onto your order from Summit??

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Very simple.

I like the hammer/vice (or 2 4x4s, or anything you have) to do them.
This is another place were the shop press I got on CL for cheap (fluke find, I never use that site) works wonders. :D
im gonna borrow nhrockers vice...
...I need to use a vice...
Ok, I can understand not having a press or whatnot but how do you not have a vice? I thought besides screw drivers and a hammer a decent vice was the very first tool someone bought?
now ill just need to find a local store with decent ujoints
I've had good luck with Precision u-joints. Spicer is probably good as well.
Who soon do you need them Rob? If you need them ASAP, then Precision u-joints (stay away from Brute-not-so-much-Force to break them joints).
Otherwise I just ordered and installed a pair of Spicer 760x's in the wife's XJ and they got here in 3 days for under $50.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hammer, flat head screwdriver, rock, C-clamp is all you need to change a U-joint.

I have like three toolboxes, way too many tools, and no vice.....I want one bad though!

LIES!!! my short side shaft has had a brute force in it for over 4 years and its still fine. i just swapped out the shafts for my other set with full circles, otherwise i would still be running it.

Isn't that that shaft with the egg shaped ears where the cap of the joint can spin???

I guess it isn't one of the first things everyone buys. Heck, I don't know what I would do without mine.

So the truth is out, thanks Adam!
