so i'm officially the mechanic-friend now with most everyone i know now. my friend had me go check out a jeep with him yesterday, a 98 5 speed 4 door with ~170k. the thing is impeccably rust free, the clutch is very firm, ran great, great brakes, etc etc. it needs tires (excuse to lift) and the rear axle is leaky / noisy, and could just be noisy from not having fluid in it. i was in my nice work pants and didn't want to ruin my one good pair with gear oil. worst comes to worst, i sell him my old 8.25 with 3.07s and help him toss it in :ssh: .he's getting it for $1250

yeah he definitely is. too bad one like that wasn't around when i XXXXed the transmission on mine, i'd have just swapped the lift over and been able to wheel all spring
