i jsut passed an XJ pulled over by, there were two cruisers there and a tow truck had just arrived. the kids driving were just standing around talking to the cops. the XJ had no doors on it. they werent locals so it made me wonder if i drove around with no doors on i bet the cops wouldnt even care. they jsut be like "look what Ross has done now"

allllllright. so. I *might* have a line on a detroit and a set of CTMs for $520 shipped, both in good shape/good working order. I also have my new aussie lined up to be sold for $200. In yet another deal, I've got the oppotunity to trade the aussie/carrier currently in my rear 44, for a new full spool plus $50...

Essentially, here's what I'm looking at doing. Either buy only the CTMs, keep the aussies, and gear only my front axle, ending up with 4.88s.... OR buy the CTMs, buy the detroit, sell/trade both my aussie lockers, have the spool, and gear to 5.38s.

Overall cost difference is approximately $320-$350 when it's all said and done... What do you kiddos think...worth it? I'd gain full case-replacement lockers, and have better gearing... I wanted to check your thoughts before doing it though :) lookin for opinions/ideas/suggestions etc

You know my opinion, but you arn't gaining "full case-replacement lockers" you are gaining one and a spool. Big difference.

eh, yes and no... a spool *does* replace the entire case :)

I will be spooling my rear and enjoying every tire chirpping moment of it.


Travis, what are you running for front shafts? If it were me, I'd pass on the CTM's and gear to 5.38's.

were you at my place or something?

the first apt i went to look at was a definite NO. got a local newspaper and called a few places and found a few maybes. one was real nice, but the landlord wants a quiet tenant, not one that works on his jeep with a grinder and welder till 3 am. i didn't tell him that i was the latter cuz he thought i was the former :shhh:
