i want to weld stuff to jeep. specifically unibody stiffeners...

ross, how much 1/4" plate are you going to have left over? i forsee myself experimenting with a grinder and welder with respect to my cross member when i do my unibody stiffeners...

as of right now, i have a 12"x48" piece that i should only need enough off of to make my over the axle TB bracket. mark split the 20' with me and i should only need 6' for my bumper. ill have a couple feet of 2"x4" 1/4" wall rect tubing too. make the center outta that, angle the sides up, and add some 1/4" plate on the sides to make it catch the factory bolts and an extra 2 bolts on each side

Sounds like what I did. Except I used 5 bolts per side (3 additonal) and if I was going it again I'd use 2"x5" instead.

if your willing to go through all the work of cutting and modifying and welding a stock one, you might as well as start from scratch. probably alot simpler and easier too.

they look a mite bit beefier than stock. the stock shaft necks down a lot.
