THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i blew up a d44 wheel bearing and had one hell of a time finding a replacement, pix will be up soon

Really? I found new D44 wheel bearings and everything really easy. I actually got the retainer plate, seal, bearings, and retaining collars from Jeff at Crown.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

all the ones that i could find were single unit bearings i had a tapered roller bearing on mine and a race is pressed into the tube, i found some by searching it here though

i have a cragar colin can buy cheap off of me. i was saving it for if i ever needed it... but he needs it more than me. i can have my dad bring it to work. it's basically brand new.

I have one he can have for free if he dismounts it off the 37" ssr it's on. It's brand new, ran on my jeep for less than a week. Colinnn?

Haha. This time (and I think the 1st) he wasn't the one that started it...
Either way, no big deal to me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

those are the hubs? i imagine you're getting the ones on the right... let them soak in gasoline for a while. then look at how bad they really might be and regrease them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thats a Warn premium hub on the left, and thats a solid drive flange on the right.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well, at least thats what the drive flanges from a '74 Wagoneer look like. These vehicles don't have manual lockouts. (I have a set of those in my back as spares incase I blow up one of my Warns.

This is what my original lock outs looked like when I was tearing the axle apart. I used gasoline and boy did those clean up nice. Nice enough to be able to tell that they were broken.

As far as I knew, the D44s all used the tapered roller bearings. Thats what I have on mine.

And holy damn, thats not right. That must have been howling before that happened. Mine were making horrible noises, and they looked fine from a quick visual inspection.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just got back from work, there was a big pile of mud under my jeep in the parking lot after work, im sure the hippie kids like that

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

didnt make any unusual noises of vibrations, my pinion bearing is whining but thats going when i get regeared and its been doing it for a while. i was almost off the wells river exit on 91 yesterday and i heard an intermittent grinding, i thought my brake adjuster came off again so i said screw it ill deal with it in the am

im glad i didnt drive too long on that the races were still ok
