thanks! i took more off than i had originally planned. i cut around with a cutting wheel then ground it smooth with the grinding wheel... did it with the axle out of the jeep, before it went in too. made it a lot easier

Update on the missing ring gear bolts:
Not 8min after I got off the phone a 2nd time with UPS (this time with a manager) the UPS driver showed up and delivered the package... so all is well. Even though I don't understand how there was no scans from Redmond, WA to me.

Oh, and Dave is great!
