THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i want this to look nice, i am a hack

Like rob said do it yourself. You'll pay for nice floor pans and even the nice ones are still 18G. The cheaper/affordable/reasonably priced ones are thinner and alot of the times don't fit well or might not cover all the floor you need it to. Go pick up a sheet of 16G at a local place like Rob said. I got a fairly big sheet for $10 and they threw in a bunch of 1/4" that I'm going to use on my Honcho.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

lacking steel and crushed in steel is very different Travis...

haha. LITTLE jeep is lacking steel, aka rotted away. big jeep is smashed, yeah. but no biggie there :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so who here would trust a drivetrain with 225k miles on it?

runs and drives perfectly fine. quick as a bastid
oil pressure is "there" not great, but acceptable.

4.0 aw4 in a 97

a part of me want's to keep it in there and see how far i can take it and a part of me says just swap over the 130k mile drivetrain and fuggehtaboutit.

will be driven up to 1000 miles at a time and beat to shit anywhere inbetween

As Anthony said, I beat the **** out of mine on a regular basis and all I've done is keep up with regular maintenance (topping off fluids, changing fluids, greasing things, etc). My AW4 has ~290-300k on it right now and still shifts fine (no slipping at all so far). The rest of the XJ has 202k on it.

On that note, I helped my brother do axle seals in his 8.25 (didn't take long) and then pulled my XJ in to see why it was driving weird...I found:
- Loose steering box bolts
- Loose front wheel bearings both sides (both spindle nuts were taken off by hand)
- Loose driver's side upper ball joint
- Squished to **** EVS bumpstops

Needless to say, front wheel bearings are all repacked, everything is now tight, and it seems to be a lot tighter just in the driveway.

Interesting how many things get tooled on when you jump them...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I get to fight my ticket tomorrow...yaaaaaaay.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i wonder if anyone makes floor pans, rockers and cab corners? i havent really looked around yet

quadratec sells those now. even body panels

how the hey did the spindle nuts loosen? you got the regulah nut with the little tit on it then the washer with all dem holes then the other nut? i run em at 50 ft lbs.

the only thing that happens when i jump is my axle smacks my oil pan and then my engine sounds like its gonna blow up. i just drive it home. cut a hole in the side of the oil pan, stick a prybar in there, smack it with a sledge and bend the bearing cradle out of the way.

i should do something about that

Not sure how they loosened...I don't think I put them on that tight to begin with though. I did the inner to 40 ft lbs I think, then the outer to the same last time. This time I did the inner to 50 ft lbs and the outer to 80 ft lbs.

More bumpstop?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oil pans: self clearancing if you try hard enough.

I gotta pick up some floor pans too sometime... I'm tired of feeling my carpet push up under my foot when I drive through a deep puddle a little too fast, and winter is right around the corner.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

More bumpstop?

my bumpstops are perfect for my shock length and body to tire clearance

the only thing is the oil pan

i do have a motor mount lift ima put in though

until then i have been jumping less

its weird because without coils or bumpstops my axle wont hit my oil pan (shocks hit) so something is doin some crazay bending. or maybe my motor mounts compress when i come down hard.... THATS IT! my axle doesnt hit my oil pan, my oil pan smacks on my axle!

HOLY CRAP! bank verbally accepted my offer on the short sale I'm trying for. Assuming I get it, look forward to a Jeep/NAXJA-friendly multi bay garage in Fitchburg in the near future...

Sweet!
But Fitchburg..... :wow:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha, yeah I grew up a town or so over from Lawrence... went to school for four years and lived (live) for a year in Worcester... Fitchburg doesn't really look "all that bad" to me, and the street it'll be on is one of the not-so-bad streets. We'll see!

If I do get it, and build a big garage, the doors are getting some good hefty locks, that I can guarantee.
