THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

I'm liking my little GM product. Over 9000 miles so far without any problems, gets 25-30 MPG on average, and does a 5.0 0-60 and high 13's in the quarter. :)

The FSJ Cherokee is still getting a Coyote 5.0 though. :D

What'd you get? Either I missed it on Facebook or just can't remember...

'05 Silverado Z71 ext cab 6.5' bed. Loaded and mint, 115k miles now.

Couldn't resist.. rear end actually moves a decent amount and the G80 works for now, until it blows up one day.

That thing is cool. And the FSJ should get the GT350 flat plane crank motor.

Similar specs to my challenger except I only get low 20s. Best I've gotten so far in the 3k miles I've put on it is about 23mpg. I average about 20mpg driving like a complete dickhead. I love that it does that on 87 too, no need for expensive fuel.

When's the 5.0 happening?

Looks nice congrats. 5.3?

I wish my truck had an LSD out back. Easily blows the tire off with anymore than half throttle.

I love truck caps

Ditto

...and you've got 3 times the displacement that I do

Just pulled the extra frame in the garage to start stripping it and getting it ready for new axles etc...also making plans to start pulling the running gear & frame out from under the body to start floor repair and body work. Rough idea is to have the new frame good to go and rolling, while the body stuff is happening, then roll the new one under the body to get the motor placement worked out. Will likely be getting a set of 8-lug SuperDuty axles. Still not sure on trans, whether I want to do an auto or manual...manual trans options suck anymore :(

Sort of on the lookout for a junk/mockup Coyote block, if anyone knows where to find one. But overall I'm not looking to make this a 'junkyard' sourced build.

I can't launch the car, just blows the tires off. That's mainly what keeps the thing from being any quicker. That and being a pig at 4k lbs.

Don't they make 4WD adapters for the T56 or TR6060? If it's not a dedicated trail rig, I don't see the issue with using one for that.

I was adamant about taking it off when I got the truck and wanted to build a hoist in my garage, but never had the time and the more I drive and use the truck the more I love having the cap. It's great- has pop out windows w screens too!

Looks nice congrats. 5.3?

Yup, 5.3. You have 100 more hp than I do too lol. The stock trans tune stops me from doing burnies but so does that baby 10 bolt. I do want to get a mild tune eventually and I need to pick up a 1500 HD 14 bolt (six lug SF) to keep in the garage for when the 10 bolt blows up.

Yes there are a few ways to use that...unfortunately it's the available ratios that have me hesitant about it. TR6060 has around a 3ish:1 first gear and a double overdrive with 0.5-0.6:1 as 6th gear. So I'd end up running 5.38s at least with 33s/35s just to have a chance of making the 6th gear usable and 1st gear any good for pulling, and I don't know if I want that kind of driveshaft & pinion speed in a daily driver.

I don't plan on wheeling it much at all, maybe expedition/camping sort of stuff but the plan is for this to take over what I'm using the 5.9ZJ for right now.

I've got a matched width pair of 60s (empty, but with all brake parts). 99e350 rear, 95 f350 HP balljoint front. Brand new Artec front truss (still in the wrapper). Rear narrowed/centered to 64-1/2" wms, front cut down to match. Housings are cleaned up, brake parts are not. Front axle has the dodge hi steer knuckles. I'll let it all go cheap.

I'd have an axle for you for a case of woodchucks but some crane driving DB convinced me to not bother picking it up.

(It wasn't difficult)

Eh I'm sure you can do a cam/headers or whatever if you really wanted more power. 395hp with an 8 speed is definitely fun even in a 5500lb truck lol.

Is the 10 bolt really that weak? The Ram 1500s only come with a 9.25 that I've never heard of any issues with.

Get that tuner.

Do you plan on towing much? If so, then yeah the first gear is kind of lame. I think the TR6060 is only around 130 lbs though which is nice...

Is the driveshaft/pinion speed that much of an issue? Looks like you'd be turning about 1800 rpms at 70 mph with that gearing setup. That's a bit deeper than where my challenger is and if you're using a coyote 5.0 I'm sure it has enough bottom end to keep the thing running down the highway at that speed/rpm. If not, then just use 5th at 2600 rpm.

I agree though there's not really a great manual trans for what you want to do. Pretty much stuck with a 4500/5600 if you want the first gear for towing.

dang nabbit. They're around, I'm sure I'll end up going nuts getting one when I need it on a sunday afternoon instead of planning ahead anyway.

It isn't the axle so much as the G80 locker thing. I'm thinking cam, headers, and tune eventually.. thats good for 100-120. These motors are crazy.
