THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I think I'm going to just cut a gap in my current frame for the coilovers and use 2x2 x .250" for the lowers. Keeps time/cost down since I still need to finish my uncles car, help my brother with his car, and then help my father/sister with their duster. Nevermind the house stuff that hasn't gotten done yet .

i'm jealous. i think there is something wrong with me, i get so bored (idk if thats the right word) without a project. i found a '72 MB sedan on craigslist for $3500 and want it so bad.

I hear ya. Without stuff going on I would be so bored. I always ask Kate "What do normal people do on the weekends?"

I'm going to half-hearted start saving for a new project now that we have our budget laid out and Kate is working full-time. Street-able stretched CJ with all of my MJ stuff thrown in it on 37s. As much as I want a full-blown buggy, I miss having something I can cruise down the road in more.

Wanna sell me your trailer since you won't be needing it anymore.

In my head I'd still want to use the trailer to take it down to RC and if I did any Line Mtn stuff with it. Nice thing about a CJ/Wranger is the windshield frame just unbolts, doors pop off easy, then you're ready to go racing.

you can easily bolt on some rotted 2x4 pieces of wood for line mtn door bars

Factory refurbed D7k from amazon or B&H? Just a thought. D7k won't buffer 100 shots at full res... It's more like 20 at most if shooting raw + B. 100ish would probably be possible if shooting JPG's at lowest quality... but who the hell does that.

70-300 is my other lens... It's a completely different setup internally than the 55-300. If you're considering one I would recommend the 70-300, but it is a bit more dough. How do you like that 10-24? I want something wider... Right now my widest lens is 18mm and I'm bored with it. 18-105's are pretty common kit lenses with newer mid-grade bodies. 18-55's are slightly better optically, but in the middle of the range 18-105's are damn close, and much more useful as a walk-around lens. Good luck, let me know what you go with.

I went and played with a D5200 at Best Buy and was really happy with it. I did some more research and started looking at the D7100. I went to Hunt's last night and played with both side by side. While significantly more money, the D7100 felt bigger, heavier, and more solid, which I liked. I'm really leaning toward that one, although I looked at my bank account last night and reconsidered getting anything.

I think I'm going to get a Nikon 35mm f/1.8 lens too.

I need to sell my 241OR now.

How much do you have to stretch a CJ to fit your behemoth drivetrain into?

At 103" I'm barely able to fit the V6/NSG370/300 combo.

i remember a render of a CJ8 or scrambler popping up on pirate a while ago with coil overs, PSC headlocks, and 37s on it a while ago. that thing was awesome. CJ8s are something like 100" wb or so.

If I have to, I'll go with a shorter reduction housing. The one I have now is like a foot longer than it needs to be. Worst case I lose the doubler all together and go with just the 205. We'll see.

BTW, did you get those -8 pushloks assembled?

100" is still nowhere near long enough. Renders are cool, miniscule rear driveshafts are not.

Yeah...heat gun helped a lot. Got it almost all done last night, although the 90's are still a pain in the dick.

Yeah like I said I wouldn't know until I had it all in front of me. I bet I could stuff a small reduction housing in there, like a behemoth strongbox or something.

Fittings in the freezer helped the most for me. Pulled them out after 20-30 minutes, heat the hose a bit with the heat gun, and I could push them on with very slight pressure. Even the 90s I had to do.

With just the heat gun I could never get them on 100% of the way.
