THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Highlight of the day Ross's mom (I presume drunk) holding a bl telling me to "****ing bump it" as I baked up on their front lawn

Did you bake cookies or brownies?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I had to do some catchup stuff on Friday. Generator maintenance, fix the deck step that's been falling apart since we moved in, fix some wiring that was routed shitty, oil change on the truck.

Saturday I went down and helped Nick with his XJ. We banged out a t-case skid, started welding up steering/control arms, new bearings/seals on the rear axle, and welded up both axles.

I took some of his stuff home with me on Sunday to give him a hand like plating diff covers, new seals/bearings in the front hubs, cleaning up brake brackets, and finish welding control arms/steering.

Also turns out the vacuum 4wd actuator on my truck is junk again. Stupid Dorman shit always sucks. I'm just going to lock it over with hose clamps or something.

Do you still have that Posi-Lok?

can you lock it in place with washers like you can in a D30?

I sold it to Nick a while back because my 4WD was working mint at the time and I didn't feel like installing it

Figures.

Yup. It's the same idea. Hell, I had put a Dodge cast iron shift fork into my CAD D30 on my first jeep because the aluminum one kept breaking.

Didn't the 02's come with 1 piece shafts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Yup.

I event had a chance to buy an '02 axle for $100 a few years back.

Wasn't high on my priority list

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I thought about doing the one piece shaft, but then there's the seal stuff and other junk. my shift fork is just tack welded in the locked position.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I think I remember reading somewhere that the fork can be installed backwards to be permanently stuck in the 'lock' position, by design.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I'll probably try swapping the fork around and if not then tack welding it like Ross said.

Thanks guys.

Generator maintenance
I did that this weekend too. Hadn't touched the thing in 4-5 months but it fired right up. Better to find out now than in the middle of winter when I need it.

Anyone familiar with B&Ss here? The oil pressure switch in mine is bad (I think). Just wondering if those fail often.

My generator has a B&S motor in it.

What's it doing that makes you think the oil pressure switch is bad? Don't they just not start up at all if it senses low oil pressure?

Looks like I'll be unemployed by rocktoberfest

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Pretty much. They are a failsafe that shuts it down in the event of low oil pressure. I think below 9psi or something. If I disconnect it it runs like a top. It won't start or run if I connect it. I pulled it but you can't really see anything to diagnose visually.

Also, oil level is good. I'm very confident it's a failed sensor not a sensor actually finding a problem. I've run it for too long for there to be an actual oil pressure issue.

Why?

Is it just pipe thread? Do you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge handy? Not sure what the spec is but I'd just check that first and if it's fine then the switch is probably bad.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Rob wtf?

Don't own a gauge. I'm sure it's bad I'm just surprised something so simple failed.
