THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

today is going slow as ****. and no one wheeling today knows how to use the internet so there are no wheeling pictures being posted... hell, how can we even be sure they are ACTUALLY there if they arent posting about it on facebook??? they could all be at a mcdonalds somewhere eating mcnuggets.

Goddamn, I wish I had some McNuggets. Need Stefan to leak some pictures from inside the revolution.

Who gives a shit about the internet?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just saw a super clean 90 MJ stranded on i90 westbound, neither I nor the owner could figure it out, CPS was just replaced, spark was fine, fuel at the rail, but no start. Every 10 minutes it would cough a little but that was it.

Cam pos sensor? Something else? I r renixtarded.

cam sensor is not critical. If it had spark the critical sensors are functioning.

My guess is failed pump, or ballast resistor. You can have fuel, but you need enough pressure. I'm guessing not enough pressure to actually spray.

easy on the road diagnosis? Cap the throttle body and choke the motor. If it stutters the pump is bad. Choking it will create enough vacuum in the manifold to suck fuel from the rail.

all of that is assuming the ballast resistor was bypassed, which is pretty much the first thing to do.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I checked that it had fuel pressure - it would spray out when I stuck my fingernail on the pin in the test port. Not sure how much pressure, but some, I think it would have at least tried to start.

Could be failed pump, or partially failed.

Interesting about the cam sensor... I thought RENIX needed them to start, but not to run, since it wouldn't know whether a given cylinder was on exhaust or compression stroke without the cam sensor and would have roughly a 50/50 chance of guessing right.

I've had my fair share of fuel pumps die. A lot of times you could get a dribble from the rail. If it sprays with force you should be pretty good. It's no fancy test, but it's pretty good. Also, even if it was still pumping that tiny bit it wouldn't make hardly any noise either.

IIRC it will guess based on the last known position.

I'm gonna go unplug mine and see if it starts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

started just fine with the sensor disconnected. not critical for start, just takes a longer time because ECU guesses.

I could see a failing one generating a bad signal being more problematic than just unplugging it.
ECU times injection events based on that. Something like 70* before TDC on the exhaust stroke is when it pops the injector for that cylinder. It always injects on an exhaust stroke.

IIRC it needs CPS and TPS to start ,and that's about it. Whne asking "what does it need to run" the better question is "what DOESN'T it need to run?" You can unplug most of the engine management stuff and it will fire and run, poorly, but it will run. Hell, I've driven them home with a completely failed map sensor.

95+ XJ dual diaphragm brake booster is ALMOST a bolt in mod for fullsize jeep.

spent a couple hours this morning trying to track down a new booster for my truck because my brakes sucked and that was the last thing left in the equation that could cause crap brakes, but nobody had one remotely close to me.

Then I remembered I still have my xj, and probably the last good part on it is the brake booster. Just had to internally adjust the pushrod length about 3/8" and drill out the master cylinder mounting holes slightly as well as the j10 adapter bracket to the firewall slightly and boom, I can lock up 40's like its a normal car.

This almost prevented me from driving down to NAC-fest, felt pretty unsafe lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

95-96 XJs actually have like a 3/8" thick spacer plate between the booster and the firewall, would have been funny if you could just use that and do no adjustments.
