THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

70 bucks for an 8 inch HF vs 130 for this 10 inch... http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-10-in-Drill-Press-DP102L/100490179#

I have that drill press, it's been from mass to indiana, use it all the time, been beating on it for years. It'll put a 2" holesaw through 1/4 plate if you don't mind chattering your way through and I stuffed a 1" holesaw through 4 pieces of 1" plate a few years back.

i got mine for 39.99 after coupon. They're on sale right now for $50. Never pay full price for anything at Harbor Freight lol

It's a curse and a blessing when you finally realize that you might as well just pony up for the good tools, isn't it?

Yup.

Thankfully I wouldn't call my workshop under-equipped at all. I have some gaps I would like to fill and things I would like to upgrade but it'll take awhile.

Avoid 93n going into Boston. A tractor trailer crashed thru the guardrail and tried to go swimming. Didn't work out that well

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm looking at this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Evolution-Power-Tools-RAGE3-Multipurpose/dp/B0030M2TCC

It's a compound miter saw that's built for cutting both wood and metal; it's a 'cold' cut as opposed to an abrasive wheel and the same blade can be used for pretty much any material. And it's really nice to not have to jockey around with your workpiece in order to get the right angle.

I thought of about 8 pieces I need to make that this saw would be nice for, so I decided to stop looking at it and just click two buttons instead.

Should be here in a few days. :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I kind of want to find a TJ rubicon front 44, sell my front HP44, regear my current rear 44, and throw them along with the 241OR into my stock cherokee.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that seems silly, when you can just bolt in your axles anyway.

Yep, because bolting those axles in would mean I have to get new rims for the 5x5.5 bolt pattern and I couldn't run Jeep alloys anymore, deal with getting the mismatched brakes to work again (work good enough, because my low overpowered my brakes last time), redo all the steering because high steer on 0" of lift won't work, ream out the pitman arm because the drop pitman arm won't work either, deal with the tracbar, new front driveshaft, regear because 4.56 gear gears on stock tires will work well.

I didn't think getting a front axle that works with 0" lift bolt in and will work with the brand new brakes I put on was that silly.

The point would be for the jeep to be as stock in the lift/look department, just upgraded in terms of capability. I could do the same with a HP30, but having a 44 would be cooler.

There is literally zero reason to swap in a front 44 at all at stock height and stockish size tires.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There must be some reason, if a stock rubicon came with it...

Stock Rubi's had 31's not 235s, and it sounds cooler on paper so more people bought them. I think you'd be better off with an HP30, less money, easier to find, plenty strong for what you want to do and better driveshaft clearance, which will help with zero lift.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You guys talk like Mark will ever actually drive and....gasp....wheel a XJ
You talk like there isn't an XJ parked outside my apartment right this moment haha, you even texted me the other day to see if I was still driving it.

I drove it to work today, I've been driving it more recently because it hurts to drive stick with my shoulder.

But no, I don't plan on wheeling. The only wheeling it would see would be the beach, but I barely go there so I'm not even sure, it is nice in the winter.

Mark wants a reason to mod his jeep.

There is no reason to do it but that's the case for a lot of things we do.

Colin knows whats up. No, there really isn't any reason, and I would be better off if I left it alone. But having come from green jeep and being reset back to a stock vehicle, I miss some of the capability.

Yep, Adam said stock lift and stockish tires, but you're right Rubi's did have bigger tires stock. It does sound cooler on paper, one of the reasons it is tempting. HP30's are less money, but either one would require an axle swap. I also did build a trussed HP44 with full case locker and alloy shafts for 33's, so I do like overkill
