THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I learned I'm getting laid off and my company is closing today. Joy.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bought this from my boss for $100. Can I do lathe stuff now?

Nice score Billy!
Does it run? Any tooling?

Man, I'd love a lathe some day.

That thing is worth some coin, in theory. Don't know if they sell for what people ask for usually. But it's a second operation lathe, not something people bother with in a home shop. You have no carriage, only collets usually and no tailstock either. The turret is cool because it makes doing operations quick once you set it up. But it's kind of just a small production machine. Not that cool for doing just about anything you might want to do.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I mean you do have a tailstock, i guess. I forget what the tailstock/toolpost/turret thing is called on a second op lathe. Also hardinge is the go to brand for second op lathes. Turret tooling is typically very expensive as well since it is somewhat specialized and you need a lot more different tooling to do things that would otherwise use cheap stuff on a normal lathe. No lead screw so no power feed/threading but it does look like it's a gear head, that's cool I guess.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about

So here is a photo of David Hasselhoff sitting on KITT while dressed as a pirate

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Some kid at school asked me if I was familiar with lathes so I could shorten up some shit for him. I was all like "bitch step aside, I MAKE KNOBS" then I blew everyone's mind with my sick lathe skills. Then everyone took turns giving me hour long blowjobs. It was pretty gay.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Somebody find me a T56 tranny for sale!!

Nah

But yesterday I checked and thankfully I lost that auction. I however check like a minute before it ended and it was only at like $600. So a REALLY nice mill can be had for like $720(after premium). It was in good condition and had a DRO. I was thinking too, for when I do decide to get one. Maybe I could rent a Uhaul trailer, use the ranger, bring an engine hoist, some pipes and I could probably get it in the shop with myself and one other person, for cheap.
