THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Finally a minute to breathe. Got back at 7 last night and had to start cleaning everything up. Gonna spend tonight pressure washing the shit out of the MJ and get it up on jackstands to fix the rear leaf and the outer setup on the passenger side front.

Colin had an epic tree knockdown yesterday. He's now known to many Line Mtn people as 'that guy who took out that huge tree'.

His steering arm looks like a wet noodle too.

 I was hauling through that little mud pit and couldn't steer out of the way when I was coming out of it. I think I need a faster orbital, and at the same time port the hydroboost and bump the return up to -8. I think that would help a bunch.

The side of my neck still aches a little.

Not so much a wet noodle as a dried overbent Gumby action figure. It still turns, sorta.
Don't forget the leaf spring either.

Yup, a little sore around the neck but not bad at all for what happened.

holy shit!

How much other damage? That's insane.

edit: looks like one inner axleshaft yoke ear hit something... if he hasn't found out why yet, it's probably worth looking into.

Meh, I guess a lot of people bend the arms. I'm guessing I also bent the spindle and possible the lower kingpin that bolts into the knuckle. Have to take it all apart.

When the knuckle oversteers, the backside of it contacts the yokes. Not worried about that.

time for double shear? although I would be concerned at what the next weakest link would be...

Probably going to have to come up from the knuckle and double shear it. Not sure how else to handle it since I don't think I can fit Artec arms.

Colin should learn how to drive.

Does Dad need to give you another driving lesson?

Also, pretty sure we passed you out in Southbridge. Looked like you were on the phone. Not sure how the **** you missed me you dingleberry.

anyone have any expierence with dodge rams with a 5.2 5 speed? are they decent drive trains. i know theyre pretty much rot boxes but ive found a pretty clean one with 135k for 4500. any huge reason to not pull the trigger?

Magnum heads tend to crack, not sure what else would be wrong with one besides the rot issues.

Looks like we won't have to worry about trees at fall crawl

My father has the 5.2 in his dakota. I think its a dog in that truck. I cant imagine it would be any better in a heavier truck. Also its only got about 160k on it and its going to drop a valve any day now. And i think he took pretty good care of this truck.

On the upside its sounds awesome with a 20$ glasspact.

And no pat i didnt pee in your zj. Just all over every inch of the outside..

And hahahaha ross i put that zip tie there 5 min after you got there on sat.

And ken sorry i was just too hung over and tired to do the extra driving to go to your house.
Maybe you can just throw it on ross's trailer in oct when we leave for moab.

Great to see you guys on Saturday!! Jeremy and I had a blast watching the action at that race. You wouldn't believe the questions I got about future racing plans...LOL!!!

Sorry to see your race get cut short though, I think you could have been competitive in that field of racers. You guys came up over that hill with ease, and I think that was the hardest part of the race!! I do have a pic of you coming over the top of the hill climb. I'll get the pic up sometime soon.

Not sure that putting those steering arms in double-shear is a good idea. I think I would upgrade the orbital to a faster one, and keep that steering arm as your weak link. AND pick up an extra set of (maybe cheaper) arms in case another tree jumps out at you again. Another main leaf?? Let me know if you have a hard time finding them, and I'll look around a bit and see if there are any around this area.

You better make it to RocktoberFest!!!
Dont think he can get cheaper arms. They are double keyd. Is the key way cut into the knuckle or the arm?

Then you'd just snap the bolts or studs....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

id keep the arms the way they are, its a good weak link and you can still limp back to the pits, try that with broken studs or spindle

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone have any idea where the oil pickup is on a 4.0?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just weld some 1/4" plate to the bottom of it.
im trying to figure out where the **** it happened, either where i got stuck or that big ledge next to where you grooved your hb, but still how the **** do you hit a oilpan with 42's
