I would look for a 97-99

they seem to be the best years. better interior then 96-, and with out the extra cats, heat soak issues, and cracking heads

I may go with the 91 because it's a grand low rust and a 5 speed 8.25 and hp 30 out of a 97-99 in it

I love obd2. There really isn't a whole lot more to the early obd2 xjs over obd1. And when something goes wrong, you know where to look and can monitor all the sensors etc... you can test sensors from a scan tool as opposed to probing them with a Meter one by one.

Christ. I'm converting my 78 jeep to obd2 lol.

I gotta say, aside from the fuel pump crossover issue, 96 is my favorite year xj. Old sexyness with some newer features and obd2.

it truley comes down to personal preference, i loved the clean look of my 98 it just became an electrical nightmare
