THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill, did you look into building a log home when you first started brainstorming for a house?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe next time we go Carmelo will remember the day we're going.

Yesterday I was sitting on my laptop after class and one of the ladies from the office walks in. She sees me and looks at me weird. She walks up to me and was like "They've been looking for you!" So I'm like "Uhh who? I've been here..." So she informs me that I actually didn't show up to my entire first day of classes. Which wasn't yesterday, it was Wednesday. Not sure how I figured that one out. Anyway life as a retarded person is rough sometimes.

When I left school yesterday I was starving. I got to my girlfriend's house and she just started cooking. All she had for a snack was these sugar free cookies some old lady gave her. She told me to only eat a few, I ate the whole bag. I'm farting non-stop, positive I'm about to shit myself any minute. This has been going on for almost a whole 24 hours now. How do people live like this!? Just eat real cookies.

Do you not like taking dumps and farting like crazy? EVERYONE does.

Why do you think people go on all those diets and everything. Dumping every 5 minutes and farting non stop.

MAD fun.

I love farting, don't get me wrong. But these farts SUCK. I farted on my girlfriend last night, she died. These are no joke. Taking shits rule, but only when you know they're coming.

Yes, but mucho money to have it to code (ie, elec and indoor plumbing) and still get the "look" inside.

That's kind of the tl;dr that I expected but was afraid of. Thanks. Now I wonder how similar MA code is to NH code, and what is reasonable (or if to-code is really the bare minimum and you should actually go beyond)... Should be a good Saturday morning with my coffee online research project.

My G-Pa has a log house in NH :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like the cool factor.

I also like open floorplans. A Catwalk and a loft would be cool too.

Not sure if there is any relation between the two, but modern log homes always seem to be like that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What's the benefit of a log house? Or is it just the cool factor?

Pretty sure it's the cool factor. My Grandfather has a house in the middle of the woods, no neighbors, overlooking the lake. I'm assuming the log house look just seemed natural.

Next to owning an old Victorian, this would be an ideal home for me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Old victorians are pretty, but holy nightmare. I would never ever buy one. Log cabin is #1 on my list followed by good modern construction. Gotta watch out, there's a lot of cheap modern construction... Plaster right on plywood and stuff like that.

It's like anything else (Jeeps, for instance). If you have passion for it you're willing to overlook the drawbacks/headaches. I have a little colonial right now that's almost 300 years old. She has her quirks, but it's a great place.

I don't want a log home after watching buying Alaska and seeing how they have to crank the logs and shit and the house naturally separates over time.. No thanks

with a victorian or other really old house if it is structurally good are ok, but once you have to do work that can be interesting 100+ years of building code changes and peoples skills for home building

im not a huge fan of most modern construction because you find a lot from '50s, '60s, '90s, and '00 and they are all just quickly tossed up with little care because they need to keep the assembly line move while turning the biggest profit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone know of a decent CAD app that won't cost me a billion dollars?

SolidWorks is too expensive. By about four figures.
AutoCAD is WAY too expensive. By more figures than I can count.
Google Sketchup is like fingerpainting for downs syndrome sufferers.
All the free online ones I've tried have been either useless or extremely frustrating to use. Or both.
FreeCAD is for dweebs with neckbeards who don't actually have any idea what a CAD app is, apparently. I'm sorry that I wasted my bandwidth and time downloading and installing it.

Any others I managed to miss?

Haven't tried them myself, but GstarCAD and progeCAD Smart! get good reviews.
