anyone ever had their ac compressor bolts break and throw the belt and compressor?
I have now, fortunately only 3 blocks from home. From the dirt and corrosion on the stumps of the bolts, 3 of them have been broken for months and the last was halfway broken. Rust and packed dried mud have literally been holding my compressor in place for the last few wheeling runs.

Had it happen to the power steering pump. Didn't throw the belt, I would just randomly lose power steering depending on where the pump decided to put itself and overheated. Happened a couple of miles from home so got it towed.

just a reg eagle wagon, nothing fancy cept the low miles, wich wouldnt matter to me as id do a complete xj drivetrain swap

Finished building the exhaust. Just have to finish welding one downpipe. Gonna paint it all and start on the radiator mount tomorrow.

well I fixed my problems with a mix of wd40, gear puller usage, oxy/ace flame wrench, and BFHing.
Turns out the bearing presses in from the back of the bracket, the flange with the four bolts for the fan clutch presses onto the shaft from the front. So you use a gear puller to yank the flange, then discover the damn bracket won't fit in the arbor press, so out comes the BFH, knock that sucker out, then go to get the replacement one out of the other bracket and do the same thing... then pound it into the good bracket, heat the shit out of the flange till it slides on, spray it with the garden hose till it shrinks again. Bearing's never gonna last 5k miles with all that hammering on the ends of the shaft, and the flange doesn't spin quite true because I was frustrated and heated it a bit more enthusiastically than I should have, but it runs and drives and seems to have no problems. It'll last till V8 time.
That repair was FAR from proper even by my standards. I "press" bearings with my 3lb one-handed inertial press kinda like Ross "machines" things with a flap wheel :gee:
