THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

boooo, looks like i have to wait until tomorrow to go pick up my new items i bought.

i might as well tell everyone what i got:D

i was walking around the swap meet and saw a couple of things on interest. i did a sweep of the whole thing once, then decided to go make an offer on my first item of interest, a warn m8000. it was well used, still working fine, brand new motor also included, all cables, wires, remote. guy wanted $250, i was gunna offer $200. got back there, it was sold. now i knew i was in trouble, my second item of interest was on the chopping block. the guy wanted $400 for them, i offered $200, we met right in the middle at $300.

A set of late 1980's Ford F350 SRW axles :party:

Front HP60 kingpins, complete, 4.10's and matching Sterling 10.25 rear.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My sawz-all is an old school Milwaukee, back when they were 100% metal (it was my father's father's) While it is not cordless right now, it will be soon unless I put a new cord on.

Oh, and I'll bring the waders. :)

We gonna go to pano's after? :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ross, too bad about the winch deal, but congrats on the 'tons :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's a real good deal on the axles. Too bad on the winch but deals on them come up more often. I wish I could have gone this weekend but I've been sick.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

when i went back sunday, i found another good winch for sale too. it was a warn xd9000i with the receiver mount, hawse head, cables, controller for $350.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin you don't have a cordless sawzall? tsk tsk!
Cordless stinks, they have their uses, but for everyday stuff I'd rather spend the extra cash on a better model corded version.

Why didn't you pick them up at the swap meet?

and you didn't call me why? ..... :twak:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cordless anything = junkyard use. I already have a plug in sawzall.

cordless impact wrench worked exceptionally well this past weekend for getting out carmelo's newly acquired comanche D44.

I think we had it all out in like 1.5 hours including taking out the shackles as well?

Oh and no PB was wasted during the pulling of said axle :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cordless = good on the trail too

just went and bought bamboo for the bamboo/carbon fiber bike frame...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

drilling through 3/4" steel with a 3/4 bit sucks back to home depot to get another bit imbetween the 2

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I have both corded and cordless tools and they definitely have their purpose. I kept missing good deals on winches until I finally got offered an xd9000i in a trade and grabbed it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

when i drilled through mine, i stepped from 1/2" to 3/4" to 1" using tons of cutting oil and the right speeds and it cut like butter. also, mine where set up in a bitchin drill press that made easy work of it.

i can play too :rof:(i stepped up from about 3/8 in 1/4" increments all the way up to the big 1" bit)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's the way to do it! and slower and slower rpms as you get bigger with lottttts of cutting oil

i miss machining. cube work suuuuuuuuuuucks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Go to your local tool supply! Much better bits, much better prices and you'll be happier. Make sure you get a made in USA, HSS bit.

x a billion.

I got a made in USA 13/16 bit right down the street when I had to drill through my frame rails for the bellypan install.

The thing went through the rails like nothing. I could go slow enough to literally watch the metal peel off of the frame rail.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thats definately the best way to drill. most people think speed is good for drilling in steel, but ideally you want to go slow enough that you can see the individual flutes spinning around. i had to drill dozens of holes in 3/16 box steel at work at my old co-op and by the time i got to the 7/8 bit i was going maybe 65rpm on the bridgeport
