tonight.

i will drive my jeep down the street at greater speeds than 25 mph. i am excited and fearful.

whenever i work on my jeep the first ride test drive is always nerve racking

solid diff covers are cheap again

YEA YEA YEA I KNOW THEY ARENT AWESOME BECAUSE THEY ARENT WELDED TOGETHER 3/8 PLATE. but mine have 5 years of smashing into rocks with them and they are fine.

and they come with bolts and rtv

Might be selling/parting the Jeep sooner than later. Idk. Gotta give it some thought. Really don't want to sell it but at the same time I can't rationalize keeping. Plus I could just start over in a few years when I have the time/space to get back into Jeep shit.

I've heard they are actually pretty common in a number of other countries, though I've never seen them here in the states. I'd be interested to try them.

Yea. I need to mount one front shock, bend tube to mount the rears, and get a new steering box and I can start driving the thing.

I did it for longer than I'd care to admit. I'm sure you can pull off a couple hours or a whole day.

Alternator crapped out.

Turns out that it'll still run down to around 8 volts but all the accessories quit working, and after that the computer just gives up. Took both Chevys in that pic to get it started again (I have a rear mounted jump point as well), and I managed to limp it to my buddy's shop.

Guy at the generator shop took it apart and we found that the spot where the brushes ride on was worn almost all the way down to the rotor shaft and the brushes were toast...he said he could resurface it best as possible and put new brushes in and it'd work, but for who knows how long.

$200 later my new alternator arrived there a half hour ago, and I guess that's what I'll be doing when I get done with work today.

So I've read thru every one of the threads on here about newer XJ's (mines a 2000) and the 99 Ram 2500 MC. I went and got one already... part number NM3060, and it bolts right up to the booster. extended the push rod, and attached the lines. all is good so far.

here's my problem: as many people as there are saying it fits under the hood, mine is almost an 1" if not more too tall...

I'm sorry. What exactly would you like me to do about this?

I had to swap the caps on mine to get it to fit under the hood. Easy though since the stock cap works.
