Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That sounds like xbobj's night stand on a saturday morning.
:roflmao:

This is convenient. I just realized if I sell some jeep parts on my way home from NYC Friday night (as I've already planned to) I will end up with exactly the amount of cash I need to buy that transmission off you and the 4500 bellhousing off Colin, two days before both of you will be in town.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

well that was awesome

Boss: AHGHGHGHGHGGH YOU GUYS DIDN'T GET ANYTHING DONE, THIS SHIT IS BROKEN
Me: it is broken because we don't have <parts list> yet. You were going to order those weeks ago, did you?
Boss: AGHGHGHGHGHG IT IS YOUR ASS IF THIS DOESN'T WORK, THIS IS YOUR FAULT
Me: you didn't order the parts we need. Sorry.
Boss: AGHGHHGHGHGHG YOU DIDN'T GET ANYTHING DONE
Coworker: here is the todo list from 3 weeks ago. It is all done except the stuff that requires parts you haven't ordered.

And then he stormed off.

He threatened to get violent if things didn't work by the end of the month. I laughed...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I used them on my XJ.

Fine for crawling though they do very little. High speed hits, forget about it.
thanks for the insight, i think ill add a half inch of bumpstop per a side and a set of factory coil isolaters (wich is way cheaper so ill be able to keep my whopping 3" of up travel

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Kind of a cool story from work, for anyone who's interested. This happened last week, but I just got the pictures.

This:

Came in dead on this:

They had been using it to break up bridge supports at low tide, when the engine died. A few of their mechanic's spent ~3-4 hours trying to get it going, only to realize it was a lost cause and the engine wasn't going to start back up. At that point the tide had started coming back in, and they didn't have enough time to pull the drive motors so it could be dragged to shore. It ended up submerged above the cab in salt water for ~10-12 hours, and is now totaled. We dragged it off the trailer with a PC400 and shoved it in the back of the yard until the insurance company comes and writes it off. This is the fourth excavator this company has lost in the ocean in the past 6 or so years. Seems like they should be a little more careful...

They ever hear of something called a barge?

Haha, yeah they have. At the same site they had a PC1250, and a PC800 on barges. One of the other machines they lost a few years back slipped off of an icy barge, with the operator in it. Apparently by the time they got him out he wasn't breathing and had to be revived by EMT's.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can't view it because I'm still on Internet Explorer 7.

I download the newest, safest version of Firefox available and I get a nastygram from IT about my 'unsupported, non-standard web browser'.

Yet we're still using IE7.

Talk about 'unsupported'. :|

Fool IT?
That'll work if they sense what browser you are looking at the net with, not if they look at your currently installed programs.

Didn't get a lot done today really, I was kinda upset that the new box leaks. But it felt good to work on the jeep again. Gonna do some more Friday and Saturday after work. Mark, my turn signals work, I put the steering shaft in upside down. That's what I get for working in the dark.

Nah, software audit. Comes with being a non-managed PC on a managed IT platform. I can install and run whatever I need for my job, as long as it doesn't violate any of their regs. So various pieces of competitors' software are OK, but if a program is a potential security threat (non-standard browser) or unregistered/unlicensed (luckily they assume everything is legit unless the software vendor requests their own audit), I get a nastygram.
