Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmm, found a few jobs up in NH. Wonder what the price difference would be between buying a decent pre-built house and buying a plot of land and building my own house.

Hell. My buddy's father has been unemployed and only doing small jobs here and there for quite some time now. He built his own (very nice) house in VT not long ago. I could hire him to do 99% of the work and put him back to work for a while.

Unfortunately as I'm fast finding out, since the market of for sale houses has turned around so much there isn't much difference even doing the bulk of the work oneself.

Hmmmm, glad you mentioned that, now I can pick your brain if I ever need to :D Somehow I'd forgotten you're dealing with this now..

so what are you saying... that buying land + building on said land would [probably] cost about the same as if I bought a pre-existing house? Or that with the market the way it is that it would probably be smarter to just buy rather than building?

If it's the former case, I'd probably be inclined to take the "build it" route so that I could focus my $$ on some good land and a large garage with a smallish 1-story house attached. Then, if I eventually feel like it or need to, I could add onto the house (go up a floor) at a later time. Plus I'd get a brand new house rather than an older one that needs updating. Seems like a win-win situation to me (other than that it would likely take a while to build and I'd have to find somewhere to live for the time being).

That really depends on how much you want to put into it. You paying someone to be a GC or doing it yourself? Right there is a huge huge huge step. Also, there a are a lot of variables building is running $140-170/sq ft if you are paying someone to do it. A spec home would be a bit cheaper but still in the $115-160/sq ft range.
I have a cage now.
Useless without a 440. Duh.

Thanks for the info. Good to know. Not sure on the GC aspect yet since I hadn't even considered building from scratch as an option until the past week or two.

I think I'm really going to have to look into NH laws and codes and stuff a bit more before I make any decision on it. I may have more options in NH if they aren't as strict as MA on inspections and shit.

pretty sure they are around the same if you are in a town. If you aren't, I am reasonably certain you can get away with more... but do your own research, I'm 90% pulling that out of my ass.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bought a new jeep today for a C-note. Its also my dream configuration, 2wd, 4 cyl, 4spd, long bed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is that an actual MJ bed cap? I think it is... shortbed.

I'll buy it off you if it is :eyes:

And if you need a replacement AX4 at any point, I have the 2wd one off Colin/Sam's MJ still. Yours for the price I paid for it, ie "come and pick it up" :laugh2:

Alright... well idk what technically qualifies as in a town and outside a town but I have something else to look into now.

Sweet, heard about it earlier  If I found that for $100 I'd be all over it. Still trying to convince my buddy to spend more time finding the title to the old bump/scully/etc MJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott... good luck on that. Jay tried for like 2 months to get him to find that damn title IIRC, and ended up giving up.

short bed cap not included with the truck. I have a line on a 4wd AX5 and t case from a guy who lives near me. we'll see what happens.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

damn.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll give you 250 for it Billy, that's a bazillion profit margin

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Doug do you want a longbed or a shortbed? If I buy the other longbed off the same guy my blue shortbed will probably be up for sale shortly.

I know. I heard about it. I'm tempted to pick up the truck for cheap money while it's available and have him let me know if he finds it

I should drive up to NY one of these weekends and visit the guy. His wife (who I haven't met yet) is the one who originally asked if he could sell it so if I put a bug in her ear that I'd buy it immediately if he found the title maybe she would start helping him look a bit harder. haha.

Edit: pretty sure if I got the guy to find the title I'd give Jay a shot at it before I took it. Just because why not. If he passed up I'd be all over it.
