THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris how fast do you plan on building your new rig?

Have you started parting out your XJ yet?

Nah, haven't even touched it...it's tough to get any kind of momentum when I can only get to the shop if someone picks me up, and while I've usually been living there on the weekends (seriously, sleeping in an RV out back), I feel bad hogging up space doing my own shit when my ass is being babysat. Plus if I don't finish something I don't wanna make it someone else's problem during the week while I'm not there to work on it.

XJ is happening soon though, and hopefully starting on the new one in January when I can drive again. I think it's going to go pretty fast...trying to plan ahead as much as possible.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Gotcha, was just curious.

I'm going to try hard to have the external part of my cage done by the end of this year so starting at the end of January I can get started on the drivetrain swap.

Hard to bend tube in the dark though because I can't see shit to make sure everything lines up. So doing it on weeknights is out. :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i would tell everyone i race a dana 35 on 35s whenever someone says the dana35 is junk.
"o ma gawd vetteboy does it so it must be strong!"

I certainly will.

They warranty the D44 RCV's up to 40" tires. :eyes:

This whole thing may still turn out to be a collosal failure...but I think I'm headed down a pretty good path so far.

Any of you guys can feel free to burst my bubble at any point if you see an obvious flaw in anything I've been talking about. :anon:

edit: along those lines, group poll: what's the weak link or biggest downfall with what I've got in mind so far?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I dunno, it seems like a lot of people are doing the IFS route so it seems like it should work well if you're following the trend.

What's the wheelbase going to be?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

its not supposed to be an insult. im lazy and would just start with a vehicle that doesnt suck dick

The Torchmate TTB car is the only one that's done anything so far, it won the Stampede. Shaffer's isn't done yet and YJ_and_Corey's is parted out. There's a few running ECORS and the like but all still built around a stock Bronco/Ranger platform.

The fact that the Torchmate car and mine both have TTB is about where the similiarity ends.

If I were following the trend I'd have a 4,500-lb Ultra4 car, which I don't want. Going for a 3/4-scale version. I haven't found dick on the internet that's really helped me yet...most TTB tech revolves around how much travel you can get before needing fiberglass fenders and relocating the HVAC blower box.

Wasn't directed towards you...that was intended for the guy with the large dome. :D

So what would you start with then?

Sooooo....what's the wheelbase?

Oh.

Little bit over 102".

Conveniently the same as a 2-door explorer, so I'll just leave the leaf springs under it and have a rolling chassis until it comes time to do the backhalf.

Needs 3" above & around a helmet.

edit: I've also decided to use a full-size person this time around instead of myself for testing seating position and clearances.
