Colin, do you NEED a 440? Your 4.0 seems to be wheeling just fine. You are dumb for spending money on a 440 when you don't need it!!!!!!!!!1

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

buying the kit, or building it yourself? :stirpot:

You're spending money on a new trans to put behind the 440, and all the junk to install it, correct? i.e. just the motor and machine work are free?

EDIT: billy - what do you think of a rear steer 70 on an MJ? hmmmmmmm.....

everything after the EDIT is trolling, no XXXXing way do I need rear steer. I will laugh at anyone who takes it seriously

New transmission is required for the doubler. Can't use mine for any kind of doubler unless the first t-case was divorced, or have someone custom machine me an adapter plate, and EFF that.

So HAH.

:D

And yes I'm buying the kit. I don't like downtime.

I'm not against a D60 rear on 35s. But a D60 front on 35s is definitely overkill IMO.

YOU STILL DON'T NEED IT YOU'RE DUMB

YOUR FACE IS DUMB

MY 14 BOLT WILL BE DUMBER THAN YOUR FACE

Yep, I'm smart enough to realize a lost cause when I see it, and realize that more effort, time and money would go into keeping/fixing that green jeep than starting fresh. Considering the only panel that isn't dented is the drivers door.

If you want to look at the bottom of my 44 diffs and see all the scrape marks from being on 33's, you are welcome to. Just realize that will probably double if you do 60's/14B on 33's.

Colin's 440 will be just stupid awesome.
Your tons on 33's will be just stupid.

My opinion.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have scrape marks all over my 30 and 8.25 from wheeling them with 33s. Sam has scrape marks all over his 60 from wheeling it on 35s. Will I have scrape marks on mine from 33s or 35s? yup. Will I get hung up on it sometimes? Probably. But it won't break.

Hell, Sam managed to break a shaft on his 60 with 35s. Will I? almost certainly not, I don't wheel as much as Sam nor do I wheel as hard as Sam. But I don't see anyone saying Sam's 60 on 35s is stupid.

Just because you probably missed it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

huh. so I did. I was too busy reading all the posts you made calling me dumb for considering a 1 ton rear on 33s/35s :spin1:

Just to be clear, it'll only be on 33s till I wear out the ones I have. They're too chewed up to have much resale value so I might as well get some use out of them. It's all 35s from there out.

The front 60 is something I flip-flop on every week or two. Probably not doing it, especially since I have an 8 lug HD44 to build. The funny thing is, the front 44 and front 60 I have cost me the same. The only reason the 60 is gay is that it's balljoint, big XXXXing deal, I don't particularly care, wasn't going to put fancy steering on it anyways.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would just keep wheeling on the 33s until they're junk and build the tons in the meantime.

On 35s it's not so ridiculous, but still retarded.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

j10 will be tons on 35's.

but its a fullsize truck thats going to have more motor than a 4.0 so its valid

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that's probably what will happen.

The way I'm planning this:
* booger weld the shit out of my current frame. wheel it locally.
* in the meantime weld up new frame, build new axles, get them set up under it.
* when I finally nuke the frame beyond repair, gut the MJ, swap the drivetrain onto the frame, chop the cab and inner fender walls off the frame (that's about all that is holding it together), weld it to the frame, bolt everything back on, and keep going. The floor and frame are junk and need to be replaced, there isn't much holding the cab to the frame really. Anyone who thinks this is a dumb idea can think of it as building a buggy that happens to have an MJ cab on it for body panels, and a mostly stock shaped frame.

If I pick up a spare AX15 in the meantime I will have everything I need to simply refresh a new drivetrain (new seals, bearings where needed) and put that on the frame as well, so it'll just be the cab and interior to swap over after.

I may be doing something really stupid but at least I'm trying to plan it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

they are only the same if they have a revolutionary caster adjuster.

XXXX I forgot to order one of those from IRO. How am I gonna build a proper 3 link for my dumb axles without that?

my 60 is shaved so much from JUST rocks im gonna have to plate it very soon. i have about 1/8" of housing left and one of the bolt holes is completely gone on the cover and housing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and let ken build one tons. please.

it means he will less likely break shit which means less time fixing shit.

I HATE FIXING SHIT!

yeah that's why I'm considering just shaving whatever axle I run beforehand. If I do it I'll drill and tap a couple shallow quarter or 3/8 holes into it so I can bolt on a replaceable skid made out of 1/8 or 3/16 plate. Shouldn't take long and that way I won't have to screw around if I wear it down, just bolt a new one on. Probably overthinking it, but it's cheap and won't really cause any problems I can think of.
