It's not a Thule box, it's actually a Volvo box. My dad got it when he had a V70.

It just has a bunch of sets of holes that you drop bolts down through and matching plates to go under the roof bars. He uses it on his GMC Envoy all the time with the factory roof bars. I dunno what the minimum distance it needs is between the rails but I'll be seeing him tonight, I'll ask about it.

How far apart can you set the bars on yours?

You guys showing up at 3 am again?

I hope not. In theory by 10 PM.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well either way. I have ratchet straps. Bolt one side down and strap the other end. :D

That V70 was pretty nice, actually...I drove the hell out of it on more than a few occasions.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll be by myself in my 9 person tent I had at Fall Crawl.

I bought a new pump for my air mattress though (has some stupid proprietary nozzle you have to use) so now I can sleep on that instead of the ground.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Initial forecast is sunny and high-40s/low-50s all weekend. Aww yeah.

Think I might bust out my mummy bag for this one...by that I mean, literally 'bust out'. It's been stuffed in the same Rubbermaid tote as my old tent since KOH 2010 and I think a mountain dew can exploded in there.

Nothin a trip to the laundromat can't fix.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Headphones are necessary right now at work. This guy is back in the office (been out because he hurt his back. When he did come back he was on crutches, and definitely was playing up the "i'm hurt and everyone should pay attention to me"), and he is really loud. He has constantly been asking people questions all morning, and his voice just carries and grates on me. He tries to be way to technical and "smart sounding" when he talks with people or asks questions. He also just asked the new IT guys how he was liking his co-op. The new IT guy isn't a co-op...

He was talking to me this morning about offroad vehicles some. He was like "ya I've taken my Hyundai Santa Fe offroad some, its done pretty good out there. I know you like trucks, I think my next vehicle definitely has to be more offroad capable."

Summation of story: I have sand in my vag and I'm really annoyed listening to other people and their problems.

Scooped from ModTech in Scott's steering thread:

I found that rotating the pinion down would help increase clearance but I ended up grinding down the RuffStuff cover.

Unless he's talking about cutting & rotating the knuckles at the same time, HTF does this work?

There's a little animated smiley we don't have, in which a guy walks in a door, looks around, and immediately turns around and leaves. I swear that's my response to just about anything in Mod Tech lately...

edit: for reference, my 1.5" tie rod hit my RuffStuff D60 cover at full lock, and I just let it do that for 4 and a half years.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was just reading that and wondering the same thing.
Looks like even Colin agreed on the clearance gaining thing?

I'm lost.

Thank god I'm not the only one with that question :laugh3: I read that and then spent damn near an hour last night trying to research and figure out how the hell that would help with no luck. I thought I was being retarded and overlooking something simple [again]. When Colin chimed in and agreed I was even more confused and figured I MUST be missing something.

I went ahead and ground down the diff cover a bit and now it's hitting when I'm only 1/4 turn from full lock. It's also hitting the (fully trimmed) coil bucket and coil at the same time so it seems that there isn't much I can do about it w/o relocating the coil buckets themselves. Will consider doing that later when I decide what I'm doing about long arms but for now I'm just going to run it as is.

Forgot my headphones... Gonna be a long day.

Quote of the morning from the IT guy I sit next to: "He's the kind of guy that makes you want to fart just so he'll go away."

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have 0 motivation to do any work considering Rocktoberfest is 3 days away.
likewise, but I have a ton of shit to get done on the jeep and at work. and on the house. So I better.

Looks like I'll be driving down Thursday morning for work (we're doing more testing at the airport and it's basically a few miles from i84 in NY) and also grabbing a bunch of equipment spares for our sites in PA, Friday night driving straight to the campground from the airport, then on my way home from rocktoberfest hitting up the sites and dropping off spares, then driving home via NJ to look at and most likely buy an MJ bed. It's going to be one of those thousand mile weekends.
