Just by "feel" I think colin's might be a 1/2 44. My Honcho's 44 was back breaking heavy while Colin's was pretty light. Also from the picture I posted the tube size on his looks about right to the 1/2 ton example.
If you are looking at a good 220V version, see if they'll do a quantity discount.of course not!! jsut ask mark about crappy plasma cutters/welders. i showed him the scariest peices of craps known to man. when i go back to airgas next week, ill be getting prices on some thermal dynamics ones

Not true. As Ross pointed out it had leaf spring perches at one point.True. It did feel really light compared to yours.

and, did you actually save a piece of the old axle tubes? (i would have too...)
Agreed, my D44 was a bear to pick up with it was full width. After I cut it down some I could manage it a lot easier. That 8 lug stuff is a lot heavier.dont forget that your 44 is full width and 8 lug compared to a narrowed 44 and 5 lug
I wasn't going to purely because of what is written between the '1' and the '2'.I knew someone was going to give me shit about the FISHING supply ruler I grabbed. ITS RED.
Engine hoist, that's why I have one.Agreed, my D44 was a bear to pick up with it was full width. After I cut it down some I could manage it a lot easier. That 8 lug stuff is a lot heavier.

smart move on getting anthony's tranny. I could see jay and alan cutting it out with a sawzall.
I just went and took this. I believe it measures .49 something when I measured it with calipers when I did my build (I ground some of the OD down because I used this piece of the tube to break the spindles free of the knuckles). Definitely not 1/4 or 3/8 though.
