THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Prepare to be a god.

543ci stroker. NO BALLS

Not spending that much money. Already going to have to buy FI for it unless I can be convinced propane is cool.

Colin, you don't need 140:1 behind a 440.

But it would be awesome and result in broken things.

I have like 90:1 right now IIRC. Feels perfectly fine, though a bit deeper would be nice just for the control. I sure don't need it for the torque, but it helps with control.

If he puts a super awsome cam in it he will

That too

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Guess not. If that's the case, you can also have the other one that I painted glamour turquoise, that's broken in about 5 spots.

I got the header panels from mine, colins, and travis's last jeeps hangin in the garage looks pretty cool but I needs mores

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

SEE YOU THERE! I'll hopefully be there by then but I might be working on my Jeep Friday morning so I may be delayed a few hours. Nothing new :anon:

That was just an estimate based on what Colin told me before...although if people are getting there earlier, I can get there earlier too. My friday is totally open.

Colin, you don't need 140:1 behind a 440.

The 440 isn't the important part...140;1 behind any motor makes driving a stick offroad much more enjoyable. Just gotta be more careful.

So I'm thinking about heading north Thursday after work and going up Mount Washington friday morning before driving down to FC.

Jealous. Are you going to hike it? I freakin' love being above tree line.

Nah...as much as I'd like to, I'm not going to be up there until nearly midnight on Thursday, and I plan on drinking beer in Hancock by 3 PM on Friday.

So i'm gonna be a gaper tourist and drive up, get the sticker, and get my picture taken at the summit. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pretty sure it has less energy per vol than gasoline

Uh...that doesn't matter when you're still putting down 400+hp with either gas/propane. Hell even if it dropped to 350 hp I wouldn't care.

To me, anything over 400 hp would be absolutely retarded in my MJ.

But like I said, I'm going FI unless someone can convince me propane is a good idea.

It also has an equivalent octane rating of about 120, so you can build your motor to take advantage of that (super high compression and timing advance) and more than make back the power.

It's nice as a self-contained fuel source because you don't have to worry about a fuel cell or fuel pump...but instead you have to worry about getting it filled all the time or what to do if you run out in the middle of nowhere. Two of the guys I wheel with regularly ran it for years but eventually got tired of lugging tanks around all over the place. One of the normal size tanks is good for a day of normal wheeling but I don't know how much a 440 would eat.

We tried running the first RCQ on propane with dual tanks and a Y-valve; ended up freezing the valve shut because it was too restrictive, and changing out the tanks was a much bigger task than anticipated.

It's not a bad idea for a recreational trail rig if you have a local place to fill the tanks, but it's not without hassles.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can fill propane 1/8 mile from my house, so I'm not worried about getting them filled.

Only issue I have is like you said, lugging tanks around and how much a 440 is going to use.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I highly considered doing propane back when I was taking the Jeep out of storage in '09 or whenever it was. I knew I had to fix some stuff on the Jeep/4.0 and that it didn't run well as it was but I didn't know what was wrong with it. I told myself that if the Jeep didn't start with some easy/minor work it would get a propane swap. I threw a new battery and some other cheap stuff at it and it started so I said screw it and went on with my life.

That said I have told myself that if I ever have any future fuel delivery issues I am going to propane. I should go though my old computer hard drive at home and find my parts/price list. I had the full system built on paper and ready to order if needed.

i think if either of us had (and used) more power than we did at KoUJ we would both be dead

Is that a keg?
