THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I'm getting sick.

XXXX.

Ya, I am too. My bro came up last weekend with a cold, and then my dad got it. Yesterday my throat started hurting, and I woke up with a nice sore throat today. Blows since I was supposed to go to Conn tomorrow for a friends grad party all weekend.

And wow, Jeep Forum is fully of whiny little know-it-all b*tches. I was searching for info on the stock belly pan bolts, and came across this thread about replacing the factory nutserts which tend to spin (or in my dad's old frames case, rust off completely still attached to the bolts). So rather than pay the $7.50 per 1/2" nutsert, 6 total, someone was like, "hey, you can get nutserts on McMaster, much cheaper." I was figuring the same thing, and even started looking there, until I came across this series of posts. Apparently, this guy who did the write up got extremely butt hurt when someone suggested using anything but OEM, and thinks kitties will be murdered and your Jeep will burst into flames withing seconds if you use something else. My thoughts are this guys an idiot, what do you think?

Initial comment said:
I just picked them up from Fastenal this past weekend (had to order). At $0.80 each I thought it was a steal - I would return to the dealer if you can.
JF write up guy said:
I'd be surprised if what you bought is the same as the OEM nutserts. Can you post up a pic of them?

Other JF guy said:
Nutserts are nutserts - just the same as any other specified fastener. They are nothing unique to Jeep. They installed easily for my and are torqued to 100ftlbs and waiting to be tacked just to make sure.

JF write up guy said:
You keep believing that. Those used in the frame will fail miserably.

You also keep believing that they aren't unique to Jeep. I've been in contact with the manufacturer of them and they are indeed unique to Jeep and an engineered product for a specific application.

I posted what they should look like and if they don't look like that, you shouldn't install them in the frame to hold up your transmission, provide lateral support, and brace the frame.

Please post up a pic of your tack welds, that will be interesting.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Must be my lucky day. I didn't bring a lunch and no one here is getting take out. No big, but not what I wanted to happen. I went to the caf downstairs that usually charges an arm and a leg and has a huge line. Well there was no line and the guy that runs the place is out for the day. I got my usual turkey club with a bag of chips and a 20 oz Mt. Dew. It usually costs $9. He rang me up for $7.50, I gave him a $10, and he gave me $4.50 in change. Not bad.

Damn, that is pricey. I can get a soup and salad w/ a bottle of water for $4. A toasted chicken BLT w/ bag of chips and bottle of water costs about $6 or $6.50 IIRC. $10 for a sandwich, bag of chips, and soda? hot damn.

Speaking of which... all morning it was dead here. 11:30 rolls around and I get an email saying that there are 14 drives to look at and that people want an update before the 1PM call we just finished. yeah, I spent over an hour looking, got 5 done, then inhaled my lunch before running down to the meeting.

Now that the meeting is over no one gives a shit about those 14 drives anymore. I'm sending out a couple RMA requests and getting the hell out of here around 3.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

someone a couple cubes over from me has been playing with the google guitar thing for a while now. I just opened it up, turned up the volume, and made lots of noise with it.

That got him to stop :laugh3:
