So can I order a (McMaster 63195K18) and just weld some rod to it? Basically the ball bearing part of the rod end. Would I destroy it trying to weld to it?
I need one for the bottom of my gearbanger for some misalignment to be able to hit all the gears.
I can go the threaded way, but I don't have my lathe up and running and have no idea how to use it. Figure this way is easier.

why not just get a female threaded rod end and weld that on there?

one that the female threaded ID is the same size or slightly larger than the OD of the rod it's going over. if that makes sense

I hear ya. I have a different idea now.
I'm thinking get their threaded connecting rod, male heim to thread into the bottom, then whatever BS shifter knob I want up top, and a shaft collar to slide over it since the rod is made of aluminum. I can weld a tab off of the shaft collar to grab the connecting rod to go to the shifter knub sticking out of the transmission.

I just need to measure the diameter of the stock shifter to get the shaft collar with the right bore.
I think it will be easy to make, and allow me to adjust the throw of the shifts with the shaft collar.

i just had some guy talk to me at work about jeeps.
he said mine was an inspiration for him to build his.
its a 97 Skyjacker 6" shortarm lift, stock steering, no sye no skids or armor, fake beadlocks 33x13.5 toyos, stock gears, expensive clutch, lightweight flywheel, stock gears. every bolt on waste of money in the jcwhitney catalog possible to put on the motor.
