THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I know, that's the other reason I want to do it.

I've only seen one other XJ with a 440 and it was to race at the strip.

sooo you want to put one in my XJ so you can know of one XJ with a 440 to race at the strip, and one XJ with a 440 to be awesome everywhere else? :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

but if 90% of the music you post generally represents 100% of your musical tastes then theres a good chance approximately 90% of the music you listen to is the same shit on wbru regardless.

unless you secretly love wicked gay shit and dont let anyone know of it

:dunno: ive listened to wbru and they have a decent selection, but its not anything close to everything i listen to...

also, starting a new band project tonight with a friend and some other kids.. i is excite.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You are going to be so jealous of my 440 MJ.

definitely jealous. your 440 mj will be cooler than my 440 xj...but I think I'll be content enough with the 440 xj that I won't throw a big fit :bawl:

:D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well I mean I know lots of people probably think they aren't good for racing for whatever reason.

I mean...doesn't an LS1 weigh around 500 lbs? A 440 with cast iron heads weighs around 650 lbs...so not that much more.

I guess the other side of it is how much power do you REALLY need to race.

I mostly want it just for the cool factor considering I'll probably only do like 2-3 races a year.

That's 520 for an iron block and mid 4's for an aluminum block - including all accessories, flywheel/flexplate/torque converter etc.

The biggest thing about the LS/LQ motors is that you don't have to build a motor anymore. Doing nothing but some simple external stuff and a bunch of tuning can get you well over 400 HP from the same engine pushing around a regular Tahoe.

The high-output small block 'vettes were as fast around a track - if not a little faster - than the big block ones.

I know that guy.

That's not too badly out of my way...maybe see if he'd be willing to go 10-20 miles so I don't have to get off the highway?

Got practice #4 tonight at my place again, I expect to spend tomorrow with a sore throat and ringing ears.

Yeah the Chevys were always cheaper to build, at least from what my father/uncle told me.

It just seems weird that the small block ones were faster. A 100% stock 440 is rated for a bit over 400HP. Cam it, up the compression, hi-po exhaust manifolds and an RPMer intake with holley double pumper and approaching 500 HP isn't unreasonable. My brother's with aluminum heads will be approaching 600HP.

That 650-670 lbs I'm pretty sure is with accessories and everything as well.

That sounds expensive.

$1500 for a junkyard LQ4 and a few hundred bucks for a decent tune puts you well past the 400 HP mark, and you're not stuck with a silly carburetor.

Back in the day, the Ford stuff cost the most to get performance out of.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You have $10k to buy a 440???

:D

duh

I know that guy.

just PMed him. do you have his number? I'm sure it'd be easier for you guys to figure out schedules and a meeting spot if he'll be around. I asked if he'd be around saturday AM and if he'd be able to bring em closer to the highway so you're not going too far out of the way...

Yeah my whole view on it is biased because my uncle has machined blocks/heads and full rotating assemblies ready to be used and willing to give them to me for free (along with gaskets, manifolds, etc.).

I basically have to buy some type of FI (TBI, Holley Pro-jection, or FAST - FAST is expensive but worth it from everyone I know that has it) and that's about it. Everything else is free. Then Dodge NP435 from a small block ($50-100), Lakewood safety bellhousing with locating kit (~$500), then whatever t-case I want. Probably 205 or something since I probably won't feel like dropping $2k+ on an Atlas.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where in NJ?

If I do it, I'll probably go Saturday morning. The car's in Fairfield.

damn, just looked it up, fairfield is 3 hours from me  Hey whatever, I guess I can do a mini road trip too :D
