THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Isn't planning ahead a wonderful thing? :D

Ya know, they're really easy to limit the travel internally... :lecture:
Ugh, small budgets stink. On the plus side this isn't something I "need" so if I can't get them for what I can't even really afford I don't have to pull the trigger.

Which is exactly what I'd be doing with 'em if Anthony and I come to a deal.
I know they can be limited, but Id still be stuck with the overall length of a 4" one. I guess I could run the top of the bump thru the inner fender/coil mount and into the engine bay. I was planning on doing some 2" ones like how you did before you went coilovers up front.
Yeah, I hear you, but you still could come up through the tower and into the engine bay with them. Plenty have done that. I'd be putting them out back so I have plenty of room in my already mounted cans. :)

IMO.

Doing it like I did is a great recipe for XXXXing up your inner fender structure. If you wanna do it like that, be my guest...but plan on going to coilovers out of necessity about a year down the line, also like I did. :D

(comments, Bill? :P )

Very very good point.

Yeah. :moon:

Edit: No air coolness for me for now.

I bet Bill offered $5 because that's what he saw for sale 100 years ago.

:D
:moon: (2nd use today, I'm on a roll)

Nope, I took the new price for them, subtracted the cost for me to rebuild them and shorten the stroke and a couple bucks.

Hopefully he can get what he wants on the PBB or Race-Dezert.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bored @ work. Gonna start buying big axle stuff soon. Having the Honda is nice for my wallet, especially @ $4/gallon.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I'm forgetting what I paid for them... I know what the whole shebang set me back, but I'm having a hard time remembering how it was partitioned.

I'm ready to help with whatever you need when you are.

No comment. :D

You can probably get what you want for them like I said above. It wouldn't be worth it for me after the few bucks I'd put into them. Good Luck dude.

Thanks. We'll see what happens.

Fact. I wouldnt do bumps up front without having an engine cage and other reinforcements. Thats why I didnt really wanna come thru the top of the coil mount. If I left a flat area, it would be a good spot to mount the engine hoop off of.

You're going about that the wrong way already. You want to come through the top of the coil mount, so you can physically tie the bump cans into whatever cage you end up doing. I don't even know how you'd do that with just a flat plate sitting on top of the coil mount; I'd think the whole thing would be a lot easier to bend/break off that way,

Yes it's more work, yes it's a pain in the ass, yes it's worth doing if a) you want to keep the thing for any length of time and 2) you plan on driving it hard enough to need airbumps in the first place.

And yes, I'm entirely jaded and in a different frame of mind at this point.

P.S. Hey Adam...

I can't wait to do that in something half that size. XXXX Ultra4.

the way i see it

all that sheetmetal up there doesnt give a XXXX what kind of bumpstops you have up front.

but it seems an airbump would be more forgiving than an inch of rubber or like some tardmuffins, thier shocks.

something up there has to stop the suspension from compressing, and all the force will end up in the unibody anyway regardless of what kind of bumpstop you have.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

unless theres some magical fairy bumpstop that doesnt allow any force to be transmitted into the unibody when your axle hits the magical fairy bumpstop thats between it and the body

More forgiving to your ass in the seat, yes.

As said though, it's still gonna be the same amount of force. G's, man. It's all about the G's.

If you're gonna go through the trouble of adding airbumps or bump cans in general, you might as well try and give the unibody a little help in the meanwhile.

Ross drives like a vag.

Evolution:
- I wheel my jeep, yo.
- I wheel blacks & reds.
- I beat the shit out of my rig, and magically nothing breaks!
- I beat the shit out of my rig, and break stuff.
- I sit back and laugh to myself when people talk about how hard they wheel their rig.

(then I go and build something with a dana 35)

(and yes I would count Sam in the final stage of that evolution)

F it, im drinking PBR and not worrying about bumpstops.

kidney belts FTW

precisely. airbumps dont magically mean you have to reinforce the unibody. it means you can keep being a lazy asshole like me and do nothing, or build it up regardless of what bumps you run.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Progressive bumps from Carmelo FTW.

Free.

The fronts collapse all the way to the can with the weight of the back of the MJ on them.

Probably not going to be too great for the front but we'll see.
