Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Metals depot is pretty reasonable, for 2 6ft lengths of 6x2 req tube, 2 6ft of 2.5x2.5 sq tube, and 12 ft of 2" angle is 30 bucks to your door.

I do online because there is no one actually locally who sells steel in a non commercial qty

How the heck did you guys post 6 pages of trash in 2 hours? Am I the only one that enjoys tech and not useless banter about steak seasoning? :shhh:
it, and another ;)

Do his first though, I want to make sure y'all have some practice first :eyes:

No, but that's awesome Colin I hope it works out for ya. Definitely let me know when the gear party is goin down, I'd like to attend.
I'm not going if he is. I thought the goal was to actually get work done. :dunce:
Colin, I know I told you the story with my inner axle seals before, and I talked with Bill after I talked with you. We agree it will be a good idea to replace those while we have everything apart. Make sure you order a couple extras, and that you call the place up and give them the inner and outer diamaters of the seals.

I called them up gave them the specs, they still managed to send me the wrong ones again.
Agreed. Well, never mind I talked to you both about this already on the phone.
Hey what's the other place to order steel online? metals depot and what else?

You havn't looked around at all then. There are about a dozen or so places within an hour of my place that deliver and ship. Heck, I'm pretty sure I've even told you the ones I've ordered from.

LOL the D44 is too good of a deal to pass up. I'll rock it for a year or so before I go to the 60.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

at some point between right now and sometime during the fall, i WILL buy a d60 and start my 609. let this go down on record that i have said this, it is all of your guy's job to make sure i stay true to this. ive already passed up a couple for GM d60 housings for $100 and i will not let that happen agian.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just a thought. If you don't have the ability to put the axle in, 44 or 60. That could cost as much as the axle itself. But if you do. Don't think you have to completely rebuild the axle you are getting. I paid $500 for my front 60, $200 for the ring and pinion, welded the carrier, and put it in. So I only have $700 into my front 60. King pins, pads, rotors, bearings where all good. It would be an easy $1,000 just in labor if I had to pay someone to do the fab work though. The rear on the other side, I have a ton of money into, stock rear 60s suck. Just get a 14 bolt, there not that much heavier after you remove the massive drum brakes. If you are going to go to a bigger wider axle, skip over a 44. A stock 60 is still as strong or stronger than a chromo axle HP 44. High steer is also a lot easier and cheaper with the 60. But if you keep it low enough, you won't even need it.
