THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm with Colin (other than the current cushy job part). You couldn't pay me anything to make me do that. I've got a couple buddies that work in the system (one in a minimum security, one in a max) and after hearing them talk no way I'd want part of that. Plus as soon as the rest of "the population" found out why I was in there I'd be the target for everything.

I'd consider your job cushy.

We sit in an office all day (for the most part) and do 0 manual labor.

My father breaks his back installing windshields in cars no matter the weather conditions.

I'll take my job or your job. I'm not talking about paychecks, just what you actually do.

I didn't even think about your last comment.

For a cushy job in my eyes you've got to get paid well.

Point taken.

Yup. That's my main reason for opting out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Copied from Pirate. Interesting question.

Hypothetical oddball Gazillionaire offers one "lucky" NAXJA reader this opportunity:

He will pay cash to the person who agrees to do time in a typical state prison for a full 5 year period.

Lowest bidder wins, cash paid into your bank account on the date of incarceration (to allow you to invest said money throughout your entire 5 year term).

Standard prison terms apply - visitation, conditions, food, etc. Not solitary confinement, Not cushy "Martha Stewart" prison.

Based on your situation TODAY (job, debt, family, kids, life, etc.) what is YOUR bottom dollar?
an awful lot. My house would be a write-off by the time I got out, and I'll be 29 in 5 years. I don't really feel like missing the rest of my 20s. Money doesn't really motivate me, time and interesting projects do.

I would rather take solitary than deal with 5 years of other convicts.

I'd attack someone the first day with my lunch tray so for the next 5 years they'd call me "Crazy Billy"
hahahaha, I was just going to mention this.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I also have a few friends that work in the Riverhead Jail by me and From the stories I hear I wouldnt do it unless we started talkin millons... However I would love to have their jobs... Easy work and SICKINING MONEY

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd have to think pretty hard to turn down a million.

Especially if I can invest it over those 5 years. If my past performance is any indicator, it'd be way more than a million when I get out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wouldn't do it for a million. Not even close.

Colin's figure of 80 million works out to about 1800 an hour, 24 hours a day. I'd consider a few months at that rate (after spending a lot of time in the gym and learning some martial arts, having my stool pushed in isn't really what I'm after) but no way would I give up 5 years of my life for money. Not the 5 years I'm about to have, that is. If you want to take 85-90, you can toss me in whatever jail you want for those years, as long as I get the money before I'm 40. I doubt I'll have a liver, any bones/joints, or brain cells left by then anyways.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris - look at it this way. A million dollars is 200k a year. To spend every single day for 5 years sitting in a cell unable to do anything you want or build anything you've planned. My bet is that if you want to, you can find a job (if you don't have one already) making at least half that, and keep your freedom.

how many SHOs and Bronco axles are gonna be in the junkyards in 5 years?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

5 years? I don't care who you are, that's a long time.

It'd have to be enough money to carry me through the rest of my natural life not working and then some. So I dunno, somewhere in the ballpark of Colin's figure of $80M sounds good.

Exactly my point.

If I'm losing 5 years of freedom, I want all the money to handle the rest of my life comfortably right when I get out so I don't have to work another day.

Thinking about it that way I'd need to require at least $131M to make what the bank's attorneys are charging me for title search/insurance/bank fees, etc.

Ouch. :(

I think the amount of money I'd want would decrease exponentially with the length of the sentance. If the time in question was a month, I'd probably do it for double or triple my current income, provided my job was waiting for me when I got out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't really even have a feel for how much money that is. To me, more than a couple million seems infinite to me. I just don't know what the hell I'd do with it other than help my family out and set my own life up a little better. (Nice house, cars, workshop, investments, etc). All those things can be done for far less money than $80M. On the other hand, if I were to do this I'd want to make damn sure it was worth my time, so perhaps asking for approx. double, triple, or more than what's reasonable isn't a terrible idea.

what?!

I paid 500 for my lawyer's services. He caught everything I didn't, and even handled the purchase for me while I was in Colorado. I think the POA note cost me extra but I don't recall.

A title search on empty non developed land should not be that extreme. Hell, you can do it yourself, masslandrecords.com. As long as you get proper title insurance (make sure it is marketable title, not insurable title in your case) which is basically a flat rate, you should be all set.

A million = about 15 years pay for most engineers I know with a couple years of experience.

Like I said, money doesn't really motivate me. All I want in life is enough money to live comfortably with a decent sized electronics lab (that's what my third bedroom is for), a decent sized workshop (that's what my basement is for), and a 2 bay garage (which I intend to build within a year or two.) Beyond that it really doesn't mean anything to me.

EDIT:
Collin u talking shit a bought me some one told me either u or Adam was saying shit

I really can't figure out what the hell he's on about. He seems upset but he also seems borderline retarded or not exactly literate or possibly both.

Yup. 15min and a whopping $750 later, and I still have closing costs coming. In fairness $360 of that goes towards the sale price.

I can do it myself for myself. The bank requires their own search at my expense.

I've heard some horror stories on titles. For example, one town over to me has a church in the center of town, they want to move and do something else with the land. BUT, in the early 1800s the lands was sold to the church and in the deed it was put something to the effect of "If the land was not use to promote or hold Catholic services for a period of more than 2 years the land will be returning the original owner." Can you imagine that mess or trying to tract down heirs for something almost 200 years back?

At any rate not much I can do, and I'm surely not changing banks as I'm locked in at a very decent rate and they've been nothing but helpful thus far.

I guess I missed something.
