THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Looks like I'm gonna have to invest in a welder/ learn how to weld and/or become real good friends with someone who can for this new jeep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hate it when the clutch engages/disengages down low, I'd rather it up top.
I'm the other way. I preffer a grabby clutch that engages near the bottom.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My most favorite clutch ever is actually the one in my XJ.

- 94 clutch master cylinder (w/one piece flex hardline for external slave)
- a bastardized compression union to fix a spot where the hardline blew out
- a hose barb fitting jammed into the hardline w/useless hose clamp
- NPT to metric brass adapter
- internal slave bastardized into an external slave bellhousing (custom steel hardlines)
- badass clutch & pressure plate
- original flywheel that's been resurfaced 2 or 3 times (you're not supposed to do this)

That'll probably bite me in the ass someday. But it works freakin amazing, both for racing and crawling.

edit: yeah, engagement near the bottom sucks. Especially when racing. Why do I wanna have to use the fullest travel of the pedal for every shift?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hate holding my leg up off the ground, but I definitely do like a grabby clutch without too much of a friction zone. Usually when I go for a hard shift I slam the clutch pedal all the way to the floor as I'm shifting and I'm letting off the pedal by the time it gets into gear. I powershift my VW most of the time, unless I'm really trying to get down the road.

I guess letting off the clutch pedal early to save time during the shift wouldn't work nearly as well with the engagement closer to the floor. By the time it would be fully engaged you still wouldn't be in gear.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A flywheel resurface just trues it up like turning down a brake rotor, right?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've heard all sorts of scary rumors that flywheels for XJs are some wacky contoured surface instead of just being flat, so maybe? maybe not?

I bought a brand new one for 57 bucks, because it was that or spend a few hours in a couple feet of snow ripping the transmission out of a junkyard hulk to get at the flywheel.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just filed my tax returns...getting like 3X as much as I was expecting. My Jeep is gonna get spoiled! Maybe the tons will be done sooner than I thought.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I should do my taxes... they're gonna be all complicated and shit though :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hate doing taxes every year. even when they're simple. I'm always super paranoid that I'll somehow end up owing money, but that's never been the case. yet

Since you just bought a house shouldn't you be getting back a good chunk of change? At least that's what I've been led to believe.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No moar sway bars on McJeep
my big white POS has been without em for some time, it handles really crazy but seems to do OK. Soon as the snow goes away I'm welding up some ghetto disconnects.

haha, NOPE!

If the original or second purchase attempt had gone through I would be getting 3800 dollars back. As it is, I get zilch, because the offer that finally worked out was done after the end of April.

Everyone thinks you get 8 grand back regardless of value... it's actually 10% of total purchase price, up to 8 grand. And there are a bunch of restrictions and crap on it, one being that you had to have your offer accepted by the end of April '10. If the retards, bankers, and lawyers (but I repeat myself) hadn't boned me so hard I would have gotten the credit and saved, oh, about 8 grand on rent as well. I'd already be living in it, too.

I knew there was a cutoff date just didnt know when. Well around here houses are so damn expensive that most people would be getting that 8k. Well actually a lot more if they gave you the full 10% and no limit.
