THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dumbass question, is the d30 housing cast steel or cast iron?

I'm fairly certain it's cast steel, just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head before I do the grinder test.

You're correct.

Anthony: Thanks! Also, he doesn't quite have the optimal "mud applied to back of driver's head" angle on the rear steer... and I can't tell if he braced that cage internally at all or not. If he didn't, I sure wouldn't want to be in there if it rolls.

I just thought it was neat that he was crab walking up the hill.

Billy, the big thing holding the doubler back is that I need to make the spud shaft. I might take some time this Sunday and use my grandfather's lathe. I've been waiting to get that stuff done before I attack the flip kit, but I expect to be starting the flip kit by the end of the month. If you were going to buy everything, it wouldn't be bad at all. The insides of a D300 are really simple. I'd open yours up and make sure there's nothing wrong with it. The first one I got was half full of water and the gears were rusty. I should be able to do most of the flip kit with just a drill press, but I will need a router or bridgeport for one thing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

first thing is hdoffroad engineering stiffeners front to rear. doing this one right haha.
likewise, I'm randomly DDing my 98 atm but once I get a house or a shop, it'll be going up on jackstands and getting full stiffeners. I'm thinking of a few other things to stiffen it up as well but nothing concrete yet.

EDIT: oh hey, welcome to the 98 club! If it's an auto and you want to override the gearshift, you should have gone for a 97, but otherwise a 98 or 99 is a good choice.
