THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My biggest reason for not DDing my Jeep is $280 per tire :( one set of tires and I already bought another civic DD  That, and some....minor... issues with the legality of things. Mostly just the cost of big tires though.
I bet we can fix those issues :eyes: I should have a 98 FSM in a week or so as well. Just pulled the trigger on the 6-volume set, decided that I can probably sell the ones I don't need for a little cash back, and even if I can't, 40 bucks for another 2 (at least) manuals full of info I want or can use isn't too bad.

BLARGHHHH

the daily driver debate

i have never had anything break on my daily driver jeep on 35-37's that stopped me from getting to work the next day. and i wheel it.

then i got the daily driver comanche and my jeep went to shit because i didn't NEED to fix it when i could fall back on my other ride. only went out to wheel in pa once every several weeks. that was lame. i was upset coming home to my jeep on jackstands, but i kept putting off fixing it until a couple days before a wheeling trip.

oh and peace out

driving the jeep to southern california tomorrow
There was some real scary welding on that thing btw... wish I could find my camera and show you (not sure if you saw it or not when you owned it.) The exhaust downpipe was boogered something awful, though that doesn't really matter, and there was a brace/something going from the front of the engine (pass side) to the bellhousing that had been cut in half and then boogered back together. I broke that one in half with my bare hands when it got in my way.

Have fun on the cali trip!

that would be swell

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What legality issues do you have? My only legality issues right now are my lack of horn (still passed inspection, when he asked me to hit the horn I cursed and said "the bracket for it rusted off, I have it on my bench at home, just forgot to bend a new bracket before I came here"... inspection man said OK and to get it fixed :D)... that and the lift height (which may become more of an issue once I do high clearance rockers.

Come to think of it... I know the official way to measure lift is to the doors. When it says "to the doors" does that mean to the bottom of the door itself? Or bottom of the door sill when the door is open? Or what?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no flares, tint, emissions won't pass, horn, ebrake, and the fact that its a big fawkin jeep are the ones off the top of my head

Sucks you have a '98. half your problems could be solved super quick if it was older. No emissions pre 96, I could lend you doors w/o tint pre-96, ebrake is easy, big fawkin Jeep just means you need to find a nice inspections station, I got a horn you can borrow, lawn edging flares are super easy though most people (understandably) hate how they look :dunno:

Sucks that you can't pass though, I'm surprised they are actually giving a shit about tint. Just keep the windows rolled down when you are there . I'm worried about mine when I go to high clearance rockers though I have some small "changes" I am thinking about making to the high clearance plans so I can swap on normal clearance rockers/doors when i need inspections.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahaha can't fix that last one.

flares - I could have sworn it had them?

tint - can't fix that one

emissions - I bet I can fix this, I looked under the hood on my 98 and what we installed aint the whole story, explains why it was still getting pissy

horn - bug Jon before he junks his '91 carcass (or is it a '92) and get the airhorns out of it, pick up a solenoid, it'll have horns alright

ebrake - bet this can be fixed, is there any way to put ebrake hardware on the rear axle again?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bet my place would pass me with Travis' jeep... if it had airhorns, new/clean shocks, and new/clean brake lines. Seriously, they would not stop playing with those and thought I knew exactly what I was doing because I had installed new hardware on it recently. I didn't even have functioning reverse lights.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ha, I laugh at this when people say it like it is no big deal, and the easiest thing in the world.

So untrue.

I know a couple spots but I'm not so sure they want me spreading the name around  plus the one I went to would be quite a hike since it's down near me south of Boston.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ebrake is easy with front 3/4 ton chevy calipers? thats news to me :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:explosion np231
You have no say until I find out what you are going to be running. In the mean time you still have one. :D

It is if you don't live in the most liberal part of the Communistwealth.

It is to me too. Please fill us in.

You can swap the calipers for those high dollar Cadillac Eldorado ones, but other than that no e-brake.

Huh. Maybe not :anon:

I figured the rear axle had some sort of drum-brake-in-hat setup, guess not. Time for an e-brake on the transfer case output flange I guess... assuming you don't have a hack-n-tap SYE. Yeah, this is past anything I've done :dunno:

Got the Honcho inspected at a regular inspection station.

35s
More lift than any of you
Stinks like gas
No ebrake
rot holes
etc

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Glad you have a place Carmelo, doesn't change the fact that its hard to get inspections.

I tried 7 different places, all of which wouldn't even pull mine in to the garage, before I finally got home early enough one Friday to make it to the place that inspected me last year.

I guess there just isn't as many hicks down here doing inspections.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i just received a box with some sweatshirts in them :D
Sweet! Wonder if I got mine.

The only output flange ebrake kit I found was for use with AA SYEs I think. Not sure if there is an easy solution for other brand SYEs. I was looking into this when I was having trouble with the ebrakes on the 9" but idk what brand SYE is on my soon-to-be-installed SYE so I just did the disk swap and did ebrakes on there.

Edit: Should have looked at the link. That's the one. Guess I read the first AA part and for some reason assumed it could only be used for AA SYEs the last time I looked at it :dunno:

i spent $ on a camera lens today? :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bought MOAR JEEP MANUALS

I think this brings the total to nine... 1 96 FSM, 2 volumes 91 FSM, and now 6 volumes 98 FSM.

Oh yeah - Princeton, or Spencer? Which do I want to fail to buy a house in next?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

princeton > spencer IMHO

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why not the 1/2" version? I love mine.

I already have the IR2135TIMAX (new version of your gun) but I want a 3/8 gun for doing things like shocks and struts. The small body of the gun makes it easier to access certain things.
